Unprepared for long war, US Army under gun to make more ammo
Quote:
The invasion of Ukraine revealed that the U.S. stockpile of 155 mm shells and those of European allies were unprepared to support a major and ongoing conventional land war, sending them scrambling to bolster production. The dwindling supply has alarmed U.S. military planners, and the Army now plans to spend billions on munitions plants around the country in what it calls its most significant transformation in 40 years.

That convo was intercepted by Wagners

Very unfortunate.

à la guerre comme à la guerre

These are really, really bad news if true.

Because earlier, Wagners acted in a decent manner towards Ukrainian POWs - there are quite a few videos out there to prove it. Their doctors were attending to the wounded too.

They've let over hundred of Ukr. POWs go home on Easter.

But if the Ukrainian idiots don't have enough of their own Nationalist units shooting them in the back if they decide to retreat or surrender, now Wagner is not going to be generous with them either. And they shake in their boots as it is already, when they hear the name of "Wagner" group. It's going to be even worse for them from now on.

The Western advisers were telling Zelensky to retreat from Bakhmut long time ago already, to save the troops for the upcoming offensive.

Instead, Zelensky kept on throwing more of his soldiers into this meat grinder.

I hope everyone who is cheering "up to the last Ukrainian, as long as we supply them with weapons" are happy.

I know this has been mentioned before, but a significant number of people in Eastern Ukraine see the Kiev government as invaders, not Russia. My guess is that they wish Azov would leave their city and continue the war on the other side of the Dnieper River where actual Ukrainians live.

No one here cares whether every Ukrainian dies. They're not pro-Ukraine, they're anti-Russia.

A lot of them claim to be - "the independent nation," the "freedom," the "genocide" - you know the drill.

But at the end I suspect you are right.

In reality, more Russians have pity on Ukrainians as brainwashed and deceived souls, than any of these people.

The ONLY reasonable solution for Ukraine is reunion with Russia, as it was for centuries.

Outside of some hardcore types in the Western Ukraine, there was NO frictions between Russians and Ukrainians anywhere else in the Ukraine or in the USSR. Ethnic jokes were more than common but we had some other ethnicities to laugh at. East of the three Western regions, most spke Russian or Russified Ukrainian. Same was on the country level. No one pursecuted anyone based on language or ethnicity. MOF, that was a HUGE no-no. Real bad.
Don't forget, Austro-Hungary and Poland had major ideological (read - brainwashing) investment in the western regions. Famous Professor Grushevskyi, founder of the "true" Ukrainian historigraphy, was on Austrian payroll, when he created his history of Ukraine.

Even their famous Tryzub symbol, Trident, is nothing more than a copy of the Khazar tan'ga. And they have on every flag and chevron. Why?

The beat up Golodomor pointed at as Russian genocide of Ukrainians, is only one side of the coin. Ask, how many died for the same reason in Russia same time and why all that happened.

History, you know, is never true one. It is always lopsided presentation, catered to the needs of those in power.

So, if you consider mass madness accompanied by "moskaliaku na gilliaku", "Hang up Russians" in free translations, a pinnacle of independence - sure, not much to say here. After all, Russians have dog heads and eat children, right? Orcs and Mordor.

If Ukraine stays "independent", it will be decimated and seize to exist as meaningful country. It's nothing but a spare change in global politics. If it goes under Russia, it has chance of preserving its state and ethnicity.

ISW Update 4/23/23

https://www.understandingwar.org/bac...-april-22-2023

Quote:
Apr 22, 2023 - Press ISW

Russian milbloggers have provided enough geolocated footage and textual reports to confirm that Ukrainian forces have established positions in east (left) bank Kherson Oblast as of April 22 though not at what scale or with what intentions. Geolocated footage published by a Russian milblogger on April 22 shows that Ukrainian forces have established positions on the Dnipro River bank north of Oleshky (7km southwest of Kherson City) and advanced up to the northern outskirts of the settlement on the E97 highway, as well as west of Dachi (10km south of Kherson City). This footage also indicates that Russian forces may not control islands in the Kinka and Chaika rivers less than half a kilometer north of the geolocated Ukrainian positions near the Antonivsky Bridge. Russian milbloggers claimed on April 20 and 22 that Ukrainian forces have maintained positions in east bank Kherson Oblast for weeks, established stable supply lines to these positions, and regularly conduct sorties in the area—all indicating a lack of Russian control over the area. Another milblogger’s battle map claimed that Russian forces do not control some Dnipro River delta islands southwest of Kherson City as of April 22, suggesting possible Ukrainian advances on these islands. Some milbloggers complained that the slow rate of Russian artillery fire due to the over-centralization of the Russian military command allowed Ukrainian forces to land on the east bank. Russian forces may be prioritizing maintaining defenses in urban areas such as Oleshky and Nova Kakhovka, leaving the islands in the Dnipro River delta unmanned. The extent and intent of these Ukrainian positions remain unclear, as does Ukraine’s ability and willingness to maintain sustained positions in this area. ISW is recoding territory on the east bank of the Dnipro River to Ukrainian-held only now because this is the first time ISW has observed reliable geolocated imagery of Ukrainian positions on the east bank along with multi-sourced Russian reports of an enduring Ukrainian presence there.

That way, when Russia finally crumbles under the weight of never-ending sanctions, boycotts and economic isolation, BOTH countries will cease to function as countries.

No, Ukraine's only chance to prosper is to remain free from Russia, who will never prosper again. Retaining control of Crimea is Russia's only chance at having a future. I have no idea how Ukraine may be able to wrestle control of Crimea away from Russia, but if they manage to do it Russia's future will look like Venezuela.

Meanwhile Russia is unable to deliver promised weapons to India, who has long been a weapons trading partner with Russia. India, for its part, has been unable to pay for some past deliveries, since traditional payment options are blocked by world-wide sanctions.

I think you will like this interview with Ben Hodges. This guy should be in charge of helping Ukraine. The war footage alone is worth a watch. It looks like YouTube is restricting access. Have to watch it at YouTube.

I follow Ben Hodges and have seen that video.
Russia's only chance at winning the war was during the first 5 weeks when they were strongest and making progress.
Those days have ended. As Russia's army has grown progressively weaker during the past 50-odd weeks, Ukraine has gotten stronger. Now, there is virtually no chance Russia can penetrate further into Ukraine and little chance they can hold what they have. There is no reason for Ukraine to negotiate with Russia.
