Democrats became even more intolerant and toxic... to the point of literally engaging in and encouraging terrorism against the people of the US.... so as a result fewer people are honest about their political stances.

I'm pretty sure my neighbors don't want CHAZ zones, defunded police, or riots in their neighborhoods.

That may have caused some "neighbor against neighbor" stuff.

Default What changed in the “suburbs” between 2016 and 2020?

One of Trump’s three favorite pollsters reported their finding that suburbanites have switched their preference this year and are anti-Trump. They stress that suburbs are where the big changes are happening, in addition to urbanites consolidating their support around the Dem candidate. Incidentally, none of Trump’s Fave 3 pollsters are showing much of outlier results this year, as all three (IBD/TIPP, Rasmussen, and USC) show Trump behind as other public surveys do.

What do you think are the reasons that American suburbs have soured on Trump?
First off its not all suburbanites that might switch to the Democrats. But I have noticed that many Upper Middle class suburbanites, like in Westchester, Fairfield, Nassau type counties have switched.

Many of these upper middle class "educated" professionals are doing quite well and are not affected by the problems that affect working and lower middle class folks. They are not concerned about trade deficits, crime, criminal gangs or illegal immigration (indeed those guys are necessary to cut their lawns) just as long as their stocks and mutual funds are doing well.

It must be nice, when you are not worrying about your job security or the safety of your family, I guess you have the luxury of worrying about something like Global Warming instead of the economic concerns of your fellow Americans or the country as a whole.

Breakdown of those who were polled per the article, of course, you have to go clear to the bottom for this:

"The daily update of the IBD/TIPP 2020 election poll reflects a survey of 1,187 registered and 1,029 likely voters, from Oct. 19 through Oct. 23. The weighted party split of likely voters includes 391 Democrats, 337 Republicans and 296 independents."

Yep it's the well-to-do suburbanites who are ignorant and misinformed of the plight of the others and unsympathetic.

Umm, since 2016, all the vitriol and hate has come from you guys on the Left/Democrats.

The change in how the suburbs vote has nothing to do with a Trump but what the Leftist media has been able to brainwash these people with 24/7 hate on Trump.

Trump has less educated white Americans wrapped around his finger. They still believe his lies and they actually believe he cares about them.

The more educated suburbanites are realizing that he's a terrible leader. That he fails under pressure. That our way of life is in danger. Some of us already leaned left, but many who didn't are intelligent enough to realize that he isn't a real republican. He isn't a true conservative. He's not a leader. And he needs to go. I live in an area that only slightly leans left. Very wealthy, very educated. And there are very few Trump signs this time and many many Biden signs. One of my neighbors is from a big wealthy republican political family. In 2016 they had a huge MAGA banner. This year, they have local republican signs up, but no Trump sign. Not even a small one. They didn't suddenly become democrats. They are smart enough to see Trump for who he is.

What do you think are the reasons that American suburbs have soured on Trump?

Because they had nearly four years to see Trump in action, and that is not what they voted for back in 2016. Back then, they didn't know it would turn out like this, but now that they know, they don't want another four years of this guy. Trump is a very very flawed person, no class and respect for the office he holds, very nasty and vindictive, no respect for women, racist, bully, name calling, a liar, a very very divisive person, and a very bad example to the children of America on how not to behave. This list is long, and people are exhausted watching this administration these last four years. And not to even mention his handling of the virus, on top of all these other things. We need decency and morals back in the White House, and we wonder why society is going down the tube.

It was no where nearly as bad, as it is under Trump. Trump have embolden all the racist people and groups to be proud and come out, with his dog whistle and red meat he dishes out. He is a very divisive figure, and that is just one of the reason he is struggling. Decent people don't want another four years of this administration.
