Here, I'll translate: The farmer grows more to sell more! That my friend is greed. The farmer isn't doing it for the benefit of the community or because he likes to work longer hours, he's doing it for profit and nothing more.
He also rotates his crops and cares for his land because abusing it would be counter-productive and detrimental to his bottom line in the long run. Farmers farm for exactly the same reason stock brokers broker and weldors weld, because it's what they're paid to do.

It has already been proven that the person entering the workplace that pulls the "walk between the cubes fast so it looks like you are busy" is a failure for the most part in this country which is why these jobs are headed overseas. These people have no want to perform the jobs - no pride. Appears that the unemplyment rate will continue until we either become a fully socialist country or a very large resort.
IMO your last phrase about stock brokers - I'll give you them they ARE greedy and I'll pretty much leave that one at that. Weldors? oh geez... so everyone in america from way back when worked for greed, not to pay the bills, buys food, put clothes on their backs and their familys? amazing the history of this country was just reduced to nothing- and there is nothing great about nothing.

You don't really understand the nature of greed, do you? Greed is why we do just about everything. Actually it's a secondary response but I'll not get into that right now. Without it we'd sit and wait to be eaten. Most upper end predators (and we're at the top of the list) have at least some concept of "mine". Our natural instinct is to hoard and save for lean times or just to make life easier. You can put the moralistic spin on it if you want but it's just a survival instinct.

1. I excuse nothing, and I am certainly NOT "PC", nor a liberal as you insinuate above. Greed comes in many forms and many degrees, and can be a grand motivator if used correctly. The De-regulations of the past administration is a perfect example of BAD greed.

seriously. When our currency fails? When the bureaucrats socialize healthcare? When the supreme court rules the DC gun ban constitutional? When the government defaults on social security and medicare benefits? How much longer will we take violations of state's rights, private property rights, privacy rights, and our nation's sovereignty?
The founding fathers were up in arms over a small tax on imported tea. Where's the civil disobedience at? Where are the protests? Where's our Boston Tea Party? Is America too apathetic and/or spineless to make a stand? Will we submit to fascism and totalitarianism of the federal bureaucracy?
