Democrats purged them? They lost in elections against Republicans not to Democratic challengers. Nice try though.

Dude, you must get your ideas about the Kennedy administration from some right wing quote mine because you are clearly clueless to Kennedy's actual record. His big government expansion of the New Deal was quite comprehensive, here is a small sample:

Amendments to the Fair Labor Standards Act in 1961 greatly expanded the FLSA's scope in the retail trade sector and increased the minimum wage for previously covered workers to $1.15 an hour effective September 1961 and to $1.25 an hour in September 1963.

The Health Professions Educational Assistance Act (1963) provided $175 million over a three-year period for matching grants for the construction of facilities for teaching physicians, dentists, nurses, podiatrists, optometrists, pharmacists, and other health professionals.

The School Lunch Act was amended for authority to begin providing free meals in poverty-stricken areas.[5]
A pilot food stamp program was launched (1961), covering six areas in the United States. In 1962, the program was extended to eighteen areas, feeding 240,000 people.[31]

Employment of African-Americans in federal jobs such as in the Post office, the Navy, and the Veterans Administration as a result of the Kennedy Administration’s affirmative action policies.[10]

The most comprehensive housing and urban renewal program in American history up until that point was carried out, including the first major provisions for middle-income housing, protection of urban open spaces, public mass transit, and private low-income housing.[6]

To help the unemployed, Kennedy broadened the distribution of surplus food, created a “pilot” Food Stamp program for poor Americans, directed that preference be given to distressed areas in defense contracts, and expanded the services of U.S. Employment Offices.[6]

The Health Services for Agricultural Migratory Workers Act (1962) established “a program of federal grants for family clinics and other health services for migrant workers and their families”.[41]

The Clean Air Act (1963) expanded the powers of the federal government in preventing and controlling air pollution.

And that's a very small sample of programs pursued under Kennedy read the rest and then get back to us.

The New Frontier.

Kennedy was talking about lowering the top marginal rate from 0ver 90% to 70%. The top marginal rate in 2015 is 39%.

The top rate capital gains was 25% in 1963. Oh the poor put upon investor class and the 15% top rate they pay!

Context. You lack it.
Integrity, you lack it. What mainstream Democrat? If you're that out of touch on the subject why are you even bothering to comment? Or don't you consider the leaders of the democrat party "mainstream"?

Your point?
I will tell you the point that many (but not all) regressives attempt to pass off as critical thinking. If a progressive says none of the former Republican presidents could be nominated in today's Republican party, Republicans will just flip that around and say the same about the Democrat Party. Whatever the Democrat says, the Republican will say the opposite. If, as a Democrat, I said, "Ronald Reagan's countenance should be added to Mount Rushmore, they'd make a Pavlovian response and say, "Any statue of Ronald Reagan should be thrown in a landfill". Just say the opposite, that's as far as the thinking goes.

That's exactly right. And yet, one of the popups when I use You Tube is about fighting Obama taking away "our" weapons. Never been proposed by the President.

so when people leave the Democratic Party or switch party affiliation, it's not because they are suddenly haters and racists, it's because the Democratic Party has been lurching left .
Except that "47% of Americans identify as Democrats or lean to the Democratic Party, and 41% identify as Republicans or lean to the Republican Party."
