Blacks have been saying this for years but if you don't see it, it's hard to comprehend. Now we have all this video and it's pretty shocking. Seeing that officer casually drop the taser next to the dead guy's body? If that video had not been taken, the story would have been very different.

He was executed for being a cop.
But what's wrong with bending the truth in trying to defend your messiah, eh?
No one has said that the executed cop was doing anything but filling his gas tank! Do you think because we see some of the racist, bigoted yahoo cops killing people, that this poor cop should have been executed? That's just nuts. body cams and car cams with audio need to be a federal law. Now that would be a good "tough on crime" mandate by a liberal president. Hope it happens.

Abilene officer murdered at home in planned, coordinated attack by 'multiple parties'
They don't call Obama "The Great Divider" for no reason.

I'm sure you will be glad to know that the murder rate in Texas is LESS than the USA average.

Now it is. Back in the 80s and 90s, Texas was one of the most murderous states in the USA. Houston was named the murder capital of the USA either in 1980 or 1981.

With social media and cameras on phones, incidents like this are being put into the public's eyes quicker. This stuff has been going on for years, but without camera evidence, it is hard to prove in some cases.

Police brutality goes all the way back to the beginning of the 20th century and before. Nothing has really changed, but things are coming to the light faster than ever.

There have been a number of high-profile killings by police of minorities in recent years that have enraged many people.

Some proved to be overblown and based on misinformation - like Ferguson. Numerous others proved to be quite chilling in their cold-blooded disregard for black lives, like the 12 year old gunned down in 2 seconds in Cleveland, the young man gunned down in Walmart talking on his cell phone, and the middle-aged man shot in the back in a park in South Carolina.

The Baltimore riots emerged from years of mistreatment by some police officers of various skin colors. Those problems predated Obama.

If anything is to blame, it's perhaps social media that moves information and rage quickly, linking what's happening elsewhere in the country and touching violent fringe elements.

Apparently, they haven't found a motive yet for that horrific Texas officer killing, but I'd be surprised if it isn't connected. Fwiw, here's an article about Obama calling the widow and offering support to protect police:

President Obama: Violence against police ‘is completely unacceptable’ - The Washington Post
I agree with you that Black Lives Matter has a good point, but the organization started as astroturf for the midterms. I actually agree with much of what they are fighting for. It's just too bad that there is a fringe element saying crazy stuff that makes them look bad. If you ask me, that fringe comes from the Nation of Islam and the New Black Panther Party. Thirty miles from where Officer Goforth was gunned down at a gas station in Houston, there was a protest in front of the Waller County Jail for Sandra Bland. The gunman in the police shooting went to the same college as Bland. It is not unreasonable to assume he was at that protest or heard about it, where Black Panthers stood their with rifles chanting about killing the pigs. To a mentally ill person, that could be inspirational.

The problem is extremely simplistic thinking and taking incidents out of the context of history along with the underlying social problems of the country. But, it is simplistic, and in addition to reinforcing the world view of the haters, it is just easier for them to blame Obama. Those blaming him for "inciting violence" (laughable after one listens to his anti-Iraq War speech) have hated him since day one, and find that the laziest excuse for explaining the current violence is to blame one man.

I guess I don't get it. Exactly what is it that Obama set out to do? Exactly what is his agenda?

What he said was perfectly called for. In the travon Martin case. Yes his son would look like him, what could possibly be wrong with that? Obama has never done a rude thing in his presidency, he is way too cool and well raised to be rude, so he didn't "essentially" call any policemen idiots. Michael brown was yet another botched police killing. We don't know how many times al sharp ton has been to the White House, and neither do you. What is your point anyway? None?
