it is high time to start firing teachers for being outright stupid and idiotic.
Agreed.It seems every week we have a story where the "educated" teacher, supported by the school administration does something totally lacking common sense.
So, I was thinking about this story today after reading an op-ed in our local paper that absolutely lambasted the school and police for their actions (this story is local to me). This was a creative writing assignment. He wrote about a dinosaur and a gun to kill said fictional dinosaur. So what, exactly, was it that made the teacher think the gun wasn't also a work of fiction? Has the teacher ever heard of context? She took the mention of a gun as a serious threat while ignoring the whole dinosaur part??
I don't blame the kid for getting all kinds of PO'ed when they searched him and questioned him. Honestly, I would have too!
A 16 year old high school student in South Carolina was suspended and arrested for writing a story about shooting a dinosaur. The teacher saw the word gun, freaked, and police were called to search his locker for a gun. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, and has a 1 week suspension from school. Good grief.
"these days you need to have a Masters Degree in most schools." Which does what?
They immediately get a raise. Does the average grades of the students they teach go up?
If not, why not. After all the have masters Degree and SHOULD be BETTER at being a teacher.
A Masters in teaching is nothing but a scam to give teachers a higher pay.
Seriously? A masters is no scam in any field. Do you have any idea what getting a masters entails. If you have one then I apologize. I seriously doubt you do though. If you don't know what you are talking about then how can anyone take you seriously
