A BEDROCK principle of U.S. democracy is that the coercive powers of government are never used for partisan purpose. The law is blind to political viewpoint, and so are its enforcers, most especially the FBI and the Internal Revenue Service. Any violation of this principle threatens the trust and the voluntary cooperation of citizens upon which this democracy depends.

Just like when Harry Reid made remarks about Romney's taxes.

Here is another item from the campaign. Do you remember when Senator Reid made his remarks about Gov. Romney and taxes? It seemed like a totally irresponsible and ruthless remark at the time.

Democrats have proven they are not above using tax records for political gain. Even if the claim of not paying taxes for 10 years is false. Reid refused to give up his source. The Washington Post asked a Reid spokesperson for more backup information and for the name of a tax expert who could back up Reid’s claim but did not receive a response.

Harry Reid said
"You guys have said his wealth is $250 million. Not a chance in the world. It's a lot more than that. I mean, you do pretty well if you don't pay taxes for 10 years when you're making millions and millions of dollars."

Richard Nixon was impeached for making the IRS go after his political opponents.

(cue the liberals whiners who will point out Nixon wasn't impeached... since he got out of town just ahead of the posse)

Article 2 of the Articles of Impeachment against him voted out of the House committee, describe his use of the IRS to harass and investigate his opponents.

But today, when Obama does the same thing, all the IRS has to do is say "Oops, I'm sorry", and that makes it all better.

Donors to Nonprofit Advocacy Groups Were Told that Past Donations Could Be Taxed as Gifts
After not levying a gift tax for decades, the IRS investigated five donors to political advocacy nonprofits. Among those to receive letters threatening additional levies and taxes was conservative philanthropist Foster Friess, and the move was widely seen as an attempt to intimidate conservative organizations and donors on the eve of the 2010 midterm elections.

“Retroactive enforcement of the gift tax in this highly politicized environment raises legitimate concerns and demands further explanation,” six Republican senators, lead by Sen. Orrin Hatch, said in a letter to the IRS

After Being Singled Out by an Obama Campaign Website, a Romney Supporter Was Investigated by The IRS and the Department of Labor
During President Obama’s reelection campaign, Frank VanderSloot, a contributor to pro-Romney campaign organizations, was said by the Obama campaign to have a “less-than-reputable record” and to be a “bitter foe of the gay rights movement.”

A few months later, VanderSloot and his wife were told by the IRS they were being audited for the first time, looking over two years of past fillings.

Anyone want to sign a white house petition?

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petitions

The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government's neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending. The citizens of the US suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the NDAA, the TSA, etc. Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it's citizens' standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government.

Signatures from Texas alone, 125,746

Oh my gosh! How much time do you have?

They've targeted dozens of local groups all over the country affiliated with Occupy, they've tried to bring cases against other groups affiliated with Wikileaks--just Google it. You'll be shocked!

Why are political groups applying for 501(c)3 tax exempt status to begin with? That status is reserved for religious, educational, charitable and scientific groups. If they're organizing for political purposes, they need to be a PAC.

Yeah, and no one in the government would ever lie about misconduct, right?
