Conservatives who say welfare recipients should have to pass a drug test in order to receive government assistance have momentum on their side.
The issue has come up in the Republican presidential campaign, with front-runner Mitt Romney saying "it's an excellent idea."

Well if you can find the money for it. The more laws we have the more people we need to enforce them, it seems to be the only jobs we are creating these days. I doubt it's cost effective but hey, everyone will pay more taxes happily as long as they think someone, somewhere isn't 'getting away' with something.
Just give it a little bit of time. Gonna have morons claiming its racissssss because a lot of welfare recipients are not white. As a person who gets FS and WIC I would be more than happy to get drug tested to prove I don't do drugs.
Most drugs are out of your system in 72 hours. They have to sober up for a few days, then go right back to the drugs. Didn't they try this in Florida and it was a complete disaster?

Just out of curiosity, which one of Ron Paul's views do you agree with??????
Good. Roll up some of the ridiculous spending to fund it, and I'm sure that this will keep quite a bit of money from people who don't need or deserve it.
Start with the politicians, after all, aren't they on the public dole, oh wait, they obejcted to it.
Why?
You beat me to it. To add to the insanity of this, drug testing welfare recipients is not cost effective. Then again, Republicans only talk about limited government and fiscal responsibility.

You can get Foodstamps and WIC, at the same time? Aren't they the same thing?
If you are going to test the poor end, shouldn't you also test those that receive Social Security? Or Medicare? Or Student Loans/grants? Curious how the focus and anger is only pointed towards the poor.
