Why is this hard for you Texans to understand? The deal will be -- a) you're out of the union, b) the union keeps the oil since it's obviously ours. Who cares what arrangements are currently in place?
I assume if Texas decides not to let the union "take" it's oil the union is going to send an army of political activists and student protesters down to Austin in their Nissan Leaf's and Toyota Prius's to demonstrate and file law suits...

If Texas tries to steal U.S. oil, then the armed forces will enforce our claim of course.

And just how is it "obviously yours" ? I'll bet you think oil in the ME belongs to the US as well.
If Texans aren't going to be reasonable in our negotiations, we will have to apply some pressure. Of course I expect Texans to try to steal our oil, but it will be fairly easy to stop the looters.
Is that so, Colonel? Fill me in on your battle plan to "apply pressure" to this hypothetical independent ROT?
You still haven't answered where Shell, Exxon, BP, and Conoco are headquartered. Based upon their heavy capital investment in Texas, and the ease in which they could re-incorporate in the ROT, just who exactly is going to take the Texas oil and give it to you?

Ever heard the Gonzales battle cry?
COME AND TAKE IT!
Oh how you forget where the most and the biggest military bases are.
I think basically, the federal government should be in charge of national security, regulating commerce, keeping a stable money supply with low inflation, and infrastructure. Everything else should be left up to the states. Let California and Vermont become left-wing utopias. Let Texas and Arizona become right-wing utopias. Then let all of the other states decide where they want to go as well.

I'm not Dick Cheney, Texan. I only think that U.S. oil belongs to the U.S. If the newly formed nation of Texas want some oil, it will have to drill some I suppose.
