I have to laugh though, you wouldnt last long in rural America.
What they really don't know is rural America is not nearly dependent on government handouts. At least rural areas have a smaller ecological footprint on the environment compared to city dwellers.

One reason could be that most govt. jobs are located in the city, where of course rural voters do not live. They don't benefit so they believe govt. bad.

Perhaps the better question is, why do pro-big goverment, dependency type people tend to flock to urban areas? People in rural areas have a higher degree of self sufficiency, but not as it's commonly thought of. Rural people more often maintain their own vehicles, build/repair their own homes, maintain larger areas of property, maintain roads, operate tractors, cut fire wood, etc. In short, they have capabilities and skills, and don't have a great need for the government to provide for every little want.

Unban areas tend to draw those that can not or choose not to exercise this same level of capablity. They are more likely to be apartment renters, with no home building skills, lawn or property maintenance skills, etc. Many, perhaps most, don't even change the oil in their own cars, let alone rebuild a motor. They are more likely to pay others to do these functions they lack the skills or ambition to do themselves. Even homeowners in urban areas seem to be more likely to pay someone to do even simple lawn care and home improvement projects. Urban residence seem to be drawn much more to other people, lacking even the ability even to spend time alone without a craving for human companionship. Whereas many rural people are happy to spend a day or days alone in the forests, hiking, camping, etc. It comes down to a matter of confidence in oneself and ones abilities.

I think it's obvious, urban people tend to be more pro-government since they lack the skills or abilities to accomplish things or simply survive on their own.

Default Why is Anti-Government Sentiment More Common in Rural America?

There are few traits more repulsive than that of bigotry.
Well said.

^^^

Government can only give you, what it has taken, from someone else.

A government that can give you everything you need, can take it all back again too.

We live way out in the sticks.

I am not so sure we are anti goverment but, anti direction of the way the goverment is going.

We have a well trained and armed militia that is very active.

We have no fire protection and if we call the police on a good day it would take them an hour to get here.

I love it like that.
