That's why a conversation about "areas" makes no sense. An urban area may generate wealth and have people that benefit very little from government assistance, but three block away there may be people that generate no wealth and rely 100% on government assistance. The neat little boxes and categories don't work.

True, the issue in this thread is that people in rural areas require more assistance, yet seem to be anti-government (even though they rely more on the government). Could it be that only the self-sufficient people in rural areas are so vocally anti-government? Who knows.

Fair enough.

You are right. I live in rural Alaska and commute 100 miles every day to work in Anchorage, and there are approximately 30,000 other commuters just like me. So while urban areas may be where the wealth is generated, it is not necessarily generated by those who live in urban areas.

Those are precisely the sort of people I am, and have been referring to.

That's a good point and another example of why this argument, which has been attempted in multiple variations, is meaningless.

Most people in 'Rural America" are quite obese and unhealthy. Can't be out there working the farm much eating pigs feet and grits all the time.

Gives us uneducated ruralists an unbelieveable ab workout.

Not in my area.
