Given this President's illiteracy about too many things to mention, it's obvious that the 'gang that couldn't shoot straight' circles of advisors is just as clueless as he is.
Since the final race which will determine who gets into 'the Chase' (NASCARs version of the NCAA basketball tournament) is next Saturday night, the timing of this offer couldn't have been worse.
The reasonablesolution would have been to hold this event during a bye week, or in December after the NASCAR season is over, but the last bye week was in July.
They can choose to do whatever they want. And I can choose to think whatever I want of them for their choice. I'm just saying, anyone who is "too busy" to meet the president is, in my opinion, too busy by deliberate choice and political statement. The statement that they are making, regardless of their politics, is indicative of our current political climate. That being divisiveness, vitriol, arrogance, and lack of common sense. I am not a big fan of the president.....I did not vote for him. But he is still the president, and to meet him would be an honor, whether it was once, or once a year.
Give us a break! he is only a man , He doesn't walk on water. How many of you out there have turn down an Invitation to some thing really important to another person? Did the world stop ? did the world come to an end? Will the Presidents world come to an end?, YES if he doesn't get busy on more important Issues facing him and this country.

Why is the "racist" card pulled every time someone tells the President "No thanks" ?
I don't know where you are from but an invite from the President of the USA would be a big deal for my family and I. So when someone denies an invite, something else is going on. I think the fact that the President is Black and perceived as a far left President and even illegitimate in the NASCAR supporting circles plays a big role in making it easier to deny the request.
That's a shame, though. What a bunch of immature guys; letting partisanship and politics getting in the way.
Nope, just showing that they have morals and convictions and stand by them. That would be something that Obama would not understand, and apparently you.

No matter what the situation I would not accept any invitation from this President, or either of the Bushes or Clinton, maybe Reagan, though I was not, nor now enamored with him.
Ok, question. How many times has a sitting president invited so many NASCAR drivers to the White House? If this is the first time then to me it screams a campaign photo op. If he had invited only the winning driver and his pit crew (they are a team) then that would fall in line with the tradition of inviting sports team champions. These drivers aren't like NFL or NBA or MLB players. When these sports seasons are over, their schedule is relatively freed up. The drivers are beholden to their sponsors and NASCAR for official appearances in addition to testing their vehicles' repairs and adjustments in addition to their fitness training. Some drivers have gone on to compete in smaller race venues for extra income as well as to keep their reflexes sharp. Then again, they may not like Obama and his decisions, something that has nothing to do with race.
Are you kidding? Of the half a million fans that show up at the racetrack on Sundays, how many of them do you think support Obama? These drivers will be heroes. The certainly will not "look bad."

Didn't see the Brickyard 400, did ya? Empty seats by the truckload. NASCAR has made itself look bad by becoming every bit as political as anything that goes on in DC, it ain't all about the racing anymore.
Interesting, is Nascar a whites only motor sport unlike Formula One ?
