I just had a conversation with a young women of 32 who was so frustrated with her inability to get a doctor over these last years to sterilize her.
thousands and thousands of young women want to be sterilized and in 2012 they still do not have the ability to control their own bodies. women can not give up the struggle to have domain over their own bodies. I am told that young men have a far easier time getting a vasectomy, which is completely sexist. these women who are now dealing with the closed minds of doctors are paving the way for younger generations of women, slowly changing the public's ideas that all women want to have children.
women think we have come far and we have, yet we have a long long way to go. the election and talk of birth control regulations, along with ultra sound viewing requirements for abortion are all the more reason for women to be vocal and insist on our rights to control our own bodies.
this is 2012 america not a 3rd world nation ruled by zealots.
Tubes tied is vastly different than outright sterilization. Those female parts are necessary beyond child bearing years if you'll note the symptoms of women who've had hysterectomies for medical reasons.
I do find it strange, however, that cosmetic butchery is applauded & least regulated, and yet incredulously, the pragmatic decisions like tubal ligation or the painful acceptance of a failed pregnancy in need of medical termination would be legally prohibitive.
Women have been aborting unwanted pregnancies since they figured out how to do it. An intelligent society recognized that fact and made abortion legal, which also made it safe.

Men tend to think that women don't know their own minds and require the patient hand of a man to guide them.
The natural state for a woman is to produce eggs.

I had a tubal ligation decades ago, in a different country where they respect a woman's choice in respect to reproduction.
It didn't make it illegal predating Biblical times. It's mentioned in Biblical days as a failure of MEN. It's linguistically used in context of a curse put upon men behaving badly beating the faith/ goodness out of the women in their lives.
Which might explain why the Jewish faith made careful cultivation of honoring women; mothers, daughters, sisters and wives, to the utmost of their intellectual ability. Can't say the same for Christianity or Islam, who have lagged in that category for quite a few centuries now. Maybe western civilization women should just convert to Judaism to walk with Jesus and stop bothering to reason with self worshiping weasels. You smell really bad and porn soaked brains are as useless as any other drunk. Marry your pimp. Leave the rest of us out of your dementia. Problem solved.
