The question should then be, did Obama's mother in fact file for welfare benefits? If so, this merits investigation.

Don't you have to be the custodial parent in order to file for benefits on behalf of a minor? I don't know the ins and outs of welfare having never been on it myself. Perhaps you can enlighten us?
