Visited Taglio tonight. I really loved it, my husband was less impressed (he doesn't like floppy pizza), but either which way, their staffing was pretty nonsensical. I guess the head chef/owner has a couple apprentices? They really seemed to not be doing much but getting in the way. With only one dude making pies, and with nothing on the menu but pies, they really should not be attempting take out in addition to table service. It took at least 45 minutes for our two pizzas to come out and there's only like 10 tables in the joint. And the two servers were nice, but inefficient, like they'd never waited tables before. (Everyone there was delightfully sweet and charming. Just slow, except for the owner who was a pizza making machine.)

I'll give it another go when they get their brick oven online and maybe get their staffing sorted out.

Szmidt's Old World Deli to officially open next week Downtown Pittsburgh | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Looking forward to stopping in. Do they sell their bread loaves and meat by the pound or is it just sandwiches?

Elijah Astin, is Szmidt's the Greenfield deli you've mentioned in the past?

I’m confused. Toast closed and reopened as Proof, but now is Proof closing? The headline reads that Toast is closing, but really Toast was already closed.

Yes. The house-made Corned beef/pastrami and rye are lackluster, but the spicy brown mustard is good. I wouldn't be surprised if their other meats/breads were good.

Did they actually reopen as Proof, though? I heard that was in limbo.

I think they only got as far as a web page. Note, no menu listed.
