Anybody have any recommendations regarding Josza Corner? I want to try Hungarian food... but this place looks so awful every time I drive past it.

I think its good, I went there twice.

Its a one-man operation so you'll want to call first.

Its location on a bombed out 2nd Ave. really gives the diners a sense of being in Budapest after the war.

I've only been there once but it was pretty awesome. There's exactly zero atmosphere and it's BYOB but the food is great and the owner is a character. You have to arrange to eat there ahead of time and he seems to cancel without much notice at times but it's worth the effort. I wouldn't go there if you're on a diet, a vegetarian or afraid of carbs since you wound't have much to eat.

How well lit is it? We have been wanting to take my Mother in law whose parents were Hungarian immigrants. She however has very poor eyesight and hates darker settings, we have heard ithat is the case with this place.

I don't remember Jowza's being especially dark but there's no menu so I didn't have to read anything. You could probably ask the owner and see if he could turn on more lights, it's a very informal place.

A Nepali restaurant opens here
I ate there over the weekend. My group was the only one in the restaurant, though there was a group of Nepali teenagers shooting pol and hanging out in an adjacent area. The food was something of a mix of Indian and Chinese, with the momos being like spicy gyoza and the curries being hot like Indian curries, but much more brothy. This made everything we ordered, including the naan-like bread, a slightly altered version of more familiar fare. Most importantly, the food was quite good, and I'd be happy to eat there again.

A place called "Chick'n Bubbly" is coming to Oakland, in the spot next to Oishii Bento. Google doesn't tell me anything about it; anyone know what it might be?
