A lot of IT jobs are going to be in Tempe, central Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Chandler. For nice suburbs I'd say Scottsdale tops the list, although it's the most expensive. Chandler is nice and more reasonably prices. Also look into Gilbert, Ahwatukee (actually a part of Phoenix on the very southern end south of South Moutain), south Tempe, east Mesa and in the West Valley look into Litchfield Park, parts of Avondale and Glendale, parts of Peoria, and Verrado (in Buckeye). Almost all of the communities have their bad parts but mostly good parts - some VERY good parts. It just depends a LOT on the subdivision/neighborhood.

Maybe not quite, but it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. I know. I could almost throw a rock from my house and hit it!

Why live in a "suburb" when the city is actually quite nice? There's no need to flee the city of Phoenix for the "safety" of the suburbs - The last mass murder in the metro area was in Gilbert.. ive read about lots of rape/ abduction attempts over the past year in Chandler. Check out the luke thread about fighter-jet noise in the west valley..

Starve an oil-man, live near where you work!

I actually think it's adorable. There's so much heritage there and I feel very safe even at night (I used to go to the Mexican place with the patio a lot for dinner when I lived closer). It's just culturally very different from most of the Valley so people look down on it but I would have no qualms living there if I wanted to save money! I'd much rather live there than some parts of West Mesa, that's for sure!

Agree. I drive through every day and it seems like a very family oriented place. Like the best parts of a Mexican small town transplanted to Arizona. Some homes always seem to be having a party for a kid's birthday, wedding, etc. and the people at the businesses I've been to have always been very friendly.

A lot of my "brown" friends would agree, sadly.
