Being reported it is believed to have been a rent dispute.

This news really shook me up. Obviously all the carjackings are horrible. But this one really hit me.
Likely because a coworker told me a family member was carjacked in the city just last week near her job.
That family member is now going to retire. Will likely never have a reason to go back to that area ever again in life. Thank God she wasn't killed.

Does anyone have evidence that the carjacking at 22nd and the Parkway occurred besides the Citizen notification? I haven't seen it reported anywhere. I'd expect it to be in the news given the location.

Why?

With well over 100+ carjackings this year so far, do you expect every carjacking to be in or on the news? Is every shooting in or on the news?

The carjackings that make the news usually are those when a vehicle owner is injured, shot, or killed...vice versa for these perps getting injured or killed...or when a "Karen'' U S Congresswoman is carjacked by armed teenagers in the middle of a weekday in a public park.

How could anyone know the number of shootings or carjackings going on the city if one relied soley on the news?...there have been well over 100+ shootings and 100+ carjackings since 1/1/22.

Went through this upthread with lots of denial about an armed robbery at 22/Market...like that incident, the 23/Parkway carjacking is confirmed.

It's a crime that there's a new mural of 'saint floyd' in Olney. Good person for the kids to look up to. Keep going backwards.

At least all that ''anti-violence'' program $$ is being put to good use as Philly gets the full brunt of the Floyd Effect.

The headline would be "Person Carjacked in Front of Art Museum." The Inquirer wouldn't necessarily run it, but other local media might.

I live nearby. Most carjackings in Fairmount have been discussed on Nextdoor and confirmed by a cop who posts on there. This one wasn't, other than people noting the Citizen report, which, combined with the absence of news coverage, made me wonder whether it happened. Citizen is not always accurate. Last year, Citizen reported a stabbing in front of my house, which I know for a fact did not happen.

But you say it's confirmed. How you know that, you don't say. So I'm no closer to knowing whether this actually occurred.

To compare me to Krasner is hilarious. I can't stand the guy and I think he bears significant responsibility for the huge increase in carjackings. I dislike Krasner so much that I even made a pretty big donation to Vega's campaign. But go ahead, call me Krasner because I questioned the accuracy of a Citizen report.
