I dont know that this will qualify for this thread but here my 'venting'.
Just because a person wears cowboy boots or a cowboy hat does NOT always make a person a cowboy, a redneck or a hick!!! So many people want to claim to be rednecks or cowboys but theres SO MUCH MORE to being one of those than using duct tape and wearing a flannel shirt, There are so many different variations of 'country' living but having a wagon wheel and an antique water well pump for show in your yard does not qualify you as living in the country...especially when your yard is in some sub division in a city of a half million people and your house is all contemporary and everything has to be locked up!
Just venting...just sayin'...

Morning ww!! I love all that cowboy stuff. In a locals casino in Las Vegas called Sam's Town, there is a shop that sells all sorts of cowboy gear. There are racks of boots, and rails of shirts with beautiful embroidery and pearl buttons. Nice colourful belts too. I bought a real nice one. I studied the Stetson hats carefully, selected one I liked, and tried it on. My wife fell about laughing, so I didn't buy one!

I would like to vent just for a moment about a supervisor at work, who made an offensive comment. When I said something, he turned on me. "You have to lighten up," he said. "I didn't mean it in a derogatory way."

So the lesson for the day is, you can be as offensive and insulting as you like, so long as you didn't mean it that way, and the other person should be more tolerant of you.

...Right?

I was reading another forum the other day about a coach who said to one of his swimmer's that his dive looks "like a cripple who got out of their wheelchair" and the vast majority of responses defended the coach's comment with little to no comment on the offensiveness of the "cripple" reference.

I hate when people use "I was just kidding" as a bad cover-up for an insult, when you know they weren't kidding. Or they throw some insult at you in a really fake joking tone and you can tell they're using the "joking tone" as a way to sling an insult under the table at you.

people who profess to be open minded "deep thinkers", who are in fact, none of the above.

Its worse when its not just forum comments, but a person corresponding every single day via personal email.

Hi everybody on here. Its been awhile.

Sorry folks for venting about a Facebook issue but I'm a Mad Chatteress right now! I love the original format but now they are changing my page to their new, chaotic format which makes it hard for me to follow ... *sigh* I'll just have to rethink my relationship with Facebook because they obviously don't care when folks complain about the new layout ...

No I get it. Im pretty damn internet savvy. My job is in IT but even the constant FB changes annoy the hell out of me. I learn just where all the setting are and poof it changes. Then of course because Im in IT I got family blowing up my phone and email asking me how to do certain stuff on FB after the changes. If I dont know, then its WHAT? How you could not know?!! Ugh.

I used to really like FB but I developed a love/hate relationship with it. So much passive aggressive behavior on there. I also had no idea how religious and political my loved ones and friends are until they start unleashing their rants. I have hid so many people now that I probably should just delete the damn thing. One pet peeve that is getting to me now that its summer, are all the insecure folks that really need to post pictures of themselves in swimsuits. Maybe its just my problem, Im a bit more modest but it just seems cheezy to me. There is a guy I went to HS with that often posts pictures of himself at the beach. Yes, he is in fairly decent shape for his age but its somewhat comical at all the opportunities he has to get his photo taken without his shirt on.

I had to deactivate FB bcs anytime I'd pop on to look at dog pics etc., my nosy neighbor would want to chat, I had to keep changing the settings bcs some people on there are on it 24/7.
Not worth the trouble imo.

I prefer CD, everyone respects boundaries
