That has to be a large portion of the 77 counties in Oklahoma (I'm too lazy to count.. ).

Things are REALLY serious down in Central/South Central Texas (Austin area). Check out this drought monitor map.

That camper does look very nice, and it appears to have more actual living space than some considerably larger park models. Park models are glorified campers or summer cabins that mostly just sit wherever they are plopped down. They were very popular in WA for people who wintered there.

The most expensive camper - if it could be called that - I've ever seen for sale was an RV in the classifieds in St Louis in 2000. It was 1.5 millioni, selling at a loss because the man who's toy it was had died.

There were and probably still are a lot of groups and forums devoted entirely to mobile living, whether it's in a camper or an RV. There are lists of places that have the best customer service, fastest ordering for spare parts, places to park free while travellng. Walmart used to allow overnight stays in their parking lots, but not extended ones. It's a whole different world for people who live to travel. I've met quite a few retirees who did that, they mostly had cabover campers on 3/4 ton rigs, but that was pretty much all that was available back then. I suppose the radical rise in gas prices over the years has affected some of them, but when you have a decent retirement and that's your major expense, it still doesn't seem that bad. Most of them had a home base with a PO box and storage for whatever they didn't want to get rid of, and they lived on the road.
