Looks like we might get some rain out of this one. And higher gas prices. I hope LA is not devastated like last time.

State of emergency declared in Oklahoma as state prepares to host Gustav refugees.

If you say it's not a toy, I guess it's not a toy.

I dunno about rain, but we have some thunder rumbling - kind of weird, since the sun is still shining, too.

How many off shore wells are left functioining in the Gulf, anyway?

Fields in the Gulf produce 1.3 million barrels a day of oil, about a quarter of U.S. production, and 7.4 billion cubic feet a day of natural gas, 14 percent of the total, government data show. Hurricane Katrina in 2005 closed 95 percent of regional offshore output and, along with Hurricane Rita, idled about 19 percent of U.S. refining capacity.

Default Remington Park

This pic is for LR and Peg! We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at Remingon Park yesterday watching the thoroughbreds. Here is a beautiful horse, Marbleton.

Marbleton won first place in the first race yesterday. The winning time for 1 mile and 70 yards was 1 min:42 seconds.

wow, we had quite a T-storm for awhile last night. Weird one, because there was no rain as far as I could tell. Once the thunder and lightning stopped and the dogs went out, they came back in dry.

Never seen a thoroughbred that wasn't beautiful - I think it's a rule or something. Forty years ago, I knew a woman who's hobby was buying second-rate racers in claiming races from Cahokia Downs, then re-training them as saddle horses and re-selling them. Made a nice profit on it, too.

Beautiful animal there redbird, but I've always been a little partial to a good Walker or a Paint. Thoroughbreds can be a little testy sometimes, although very sleak ans beautifu.l

Just couldn't wait to share this with all of you~We were at our state fair today and there was a guy who had a "Bricktown" t-shirt on. SO, I struck up a conversation with him. At first, he yelled for his wife thinking I was from Ok. I corrected the misunderstanding right away, but told him that we had loved it down there, but are from here. He seemed disappointed.

They had been there in April and just fell in love with the place. They'd mainly hung around the OKC area. While we were still freezing up here, he said that everything was so nice there. Just had to pass along another compliment that your state got today.

We met up with Rebird and Uncle Don at the racetrack. Thoroughbreds are truly beautiful animals! We also hit the tremendous storm on our way home. It was almost impossible to see anything. Just as we pulled away from the racetrack all the lights went out. Scary going home.

Today Anna and I went riding at Thunderbird Lake. Again, about 10 minutes into our ride, there was several loud claps of thunder, but luckily whatever was in the air moved in another direction, and our ride was uneventful.

Just going to hang around the house tomorrow, and use the pool that we've been paying so much money to maintain

Happy Labor Day everyone!
