Edit* 228 rooms
Just saw a pay wall article about a second Westin for the Triangle. Where is the second one going? Hopefully downtown since the other one is headed for North Hills. Is briar Creek downtown?

No. Brier Creek is near RDU Airport.

Right.

@gsoboi
So the Westin at Crabtree will be 18 stories and the Brier Creek one will be 10 stories. You might have the hotel in North Hills confused with the Marriot Autograph Collection that is going in the 33 story Walter tower.

Ok thanks for the clarification. Very awesome though. The first city in NC to have two Westins.

Yah I guess it's noteworthy. Just a brand though.

The owner of nightlife giant Raleigh Beer Garden now has his eyes set on Charlotte.

Owner Niall Hanley is expecting to bring that same vibe to a new project in South End — to be named Charlotte Beer Garden.
Hanley has an eye for design and a mind for what people want. Currently, he says Raleigh Beer Garden is the world record holder for most beers on tap with 350+. He could top that with Charlotte Beer Garden.
In addition to the beer, there will also be plenty of delicious food and crafty cocktails. If you’ve ever been to the Raleigh Beer Garden, you know it has flair.
The giant tree is a major centerpiece, and look for that design aesthetic to be a part of Charlotte Beer Garden.

You cannot rely on cardinal directions to place yourself... I always get it wrong, but I also don't look at what my car is displaying either. For Example Tryon Rd. through Crossroads is merely an East West road in my mind. But when I get to intersections and acting on that notion I will end up headed in the wrong direction.

I suspect they learn using memory of every intersection.

CLT report on new Concourse A Expansion

Concourse A Expansion – Phase I at Charlotte Douglas
International Airport (CLT) is now open and receiving rave
reviews. The nine-gate, 229,807-square foot addition is the first
completed project under the Destination CLT initiative, a $2.5
billion capital investment program to renovate the concourses
and expand CLT’s roadways, curb front, airfield and terminal.

Charlotte Douglas last debuted mainline gates 15 years ago with
the expansion of Concourse D. The new addition increases CLT’s
gate capacity by 10 percent, housing United (Gates A21, A23,
A25 & A27), Southwest (Gates A24 & A26), JetBlue (Gate A22),
Frontier and Air Canada airlines (Gates A28 & A29).
Southwest Airlines was the first airline to operate on the new
gates with a 5:20 a.m. departure July 18 to Houston.
