This is good news for a few different reasons. First, this is a roller coaster that will be family friendly. Afterburn (60 mph), Intimidator (75 mph) and Fury (95 mph) are all GREAT rides but they are too scary for many people. This 42 mph coaster will be more "fun" than "thrill" which is a good thing. Secondly, this would be the 14th coaster at Carowinds; making Carowinds the 5th most coaster-heavy park on Earth (only 4 parks on the planet have more coasters than Carowinds). Finally, it shows that the Carolinas have been a good investment for Cedar Fair and the ongoing additions to Carowinds will continue (and for selfish reasons, this is GREAT for my property value because I live only 10 mins from this growing park).
The Courtyard at Midtown Village is being marketed now in Wilmington. It will finish off one corner of Shipyard and Independence with infill mixed use, including a hotel.
This is adjacent to two bank branches and the headquarter campus of Live Oak Bank as well as a Verizon Call Center and large Orthopedic Center. The development will surround the existing "duck pond". Some of the space has been used for temporary xmas tree or halloween lots over the years. Said to have a 110 bed hotel, a Pharmacy and a couple of restaurants as well as office space.
Western Cary is now the next section of the city undergoing a boom. Recent report says only 18% of Cary is left undeveloped. Wonder if we'll start seeing Cary go more vertical.
