A permit filed with the city of Charlotte suggests a golf entertainment venue may be heading to South End.
And no — it's not Topgolf.
Filings with the city's land development services show an upfit is planned for 210 Rampart St., for a "bar/restaurant and amusement space." The permit is called Drive Shack LLC, also the name of a golf entertainment venue based in New York that opened its first North Carolina facility in Raleigh last year.
Charlotte has 2 TOP Golf now, good to have a different type of golf entertainment venue. It also has a small TopGolf's uptown.
Truist's plan for a technology and innovation hub in Charlotte. Rogers said it will be based out of the soon-to-be Truist Center at 214 N. Tryon St. The bank is under contract to purchase that North Tryon office building, currently known as Hearst Tower, for $455.5 million. Executives were previously unsure of where to position the technology hub. But Rogers said having it within the corporate headquarters will allow the company to be engaged in the innovation process. It will also be easier to see how clients want to interact with the company, he added.
Since the Panthers missed the playoffs, it didn’t start with any post-season NFL games. Instead, the stadium’s new year begins with another football team. Or, rather, a futbol team. The Mexican National Team will play the Czech Republic in an international soccer friendly here in March.
It will be Mexico’s fifth appearance at the NFL stadium since 2010. The match begins at 8:30 p.m. on March 26. Tickets are $30 to $250.
Charlotte MLS team has now sold over 20,000 seals so far.
Nashville's is a complete dumpster fire at the moment and may not even happen.
The city is backing out of their site deal. Per Gerber, the MLS Commissioner:
Quote:
MLS Commissioner Don Garber told Mayor Cooper that MLS wouldn't have awarded Nashville an expansion team without the commitment made by the city to build a soccer stadium at the Fairgrounds. The Mayor’s continued refusal to proceed is a deep disappointment to Nashville SC and MLS.
The joint statement went on to describe the groups' "deep disappointment" over the mayor's failure to approve demolition and push the process forward.
I'd absolutely love more than anything for Nashville to be stripped of it's MLS team and just give it to Raleigh.
I'm not a huge soccer guy, but I'd get into it for an intrastate pro sports rivalry. That would be fun af
