I guess they had no way of knowing which states would have the most population both then and into the future. Population shifts are not out of the question even today. Think of all the problems that would cause amongst 50 states. Especially with states that have similar population counts which could change their population status every six years which is the term of a senator or every ten years during the census count . You also have to take into consideration births, deaths and both in and out migration. The founders of this nation were very smart in designing our system of government the way they did. Our Constitution is just as relevant today as it was when it was first written. It is the foundation of our system of governing and was designed to keep the power of government in check and to preserve our individual civil liberties from tyranny. All public officials are sworn to uphold it "so help them God". There is no need to change it. Those who wish to do so only have nefarious purposes in mind. Those who support them do so at our own peril. When all is said and done they may not like what they wished for.
I usually disagree with you, but you're spot on here.
All the political parties have an agenda. It's been like this since day 1 of the government. During Washington's presidency the agenda battle was the Federalists vs. The Jefferson's. This isn't anything new. The nature of the govt' being a Republic means that instead of agendas being forced by majority population of social classes, it is now through representatives which represent those majority classes in a less powerful manner.
Like I said, nothing new in our govt since day 1.
Actually, political parties with agendas pre-date the US Constitution. One of the reasons that the US Constitution was written as it was, with a President elected by independent electors rather than as a parliamentary form with the head of the majority party being the Prime Minister, was to attempt to head off the "factionalism" that ruled in the British House of Commons. George Washington was the only "non-factional" POTUS, and yet his Cabinet was torn by the very factional rivalries that Washington -- and many other men of his time -- abhorred almost from the first.
People have different views. That's fact, and in any kind of democratic form of government, they're going to argue over the best way to do things.
Am I waging a war on you? Am I a "Communist"? Am I a "domestic enemy"?
Give me a break.
Just stop with all this worthless bunk.
You are spending your lives being eaten alive with all this ridiculous stuff.
Good grief.
Apparently, since accusing people of being "socialists" hasn't had much success, maybe accusing them of being "Communists" will. After all, it worked 65 years ago for Joe McCarthy.

Well, thank you Linda! As you know I'm very passionate in my political beliefs as you are yours. Butting heads is always going to be a part of any political discussion. As long as it's not personal we'll be okay. Truce?
Sometimes I feel like Upstate NY should be given to Quebec, I think the Quebecois can make it into something better than just a bunch of rust belt towns

But it only worked for so long, and after that, not so much.
And we know what ultimately happened to Joe McCarthy. He was such a charmer.

Well they could split everything West of 390 to PA...everything North from I90 and East of 49, 46, 12D, 12, 812, 11, and 812 again belong to Vermont...Everything East of 390, West of 812 and South of I90 belong to NY.
NY gives Buffalo and Niagara Falls up to PA.
Keeps Rochester, Syracuse, Watkins Glen, Ithaca, Syracuse, Utica, Watertown, Schenectady, Saratoga Springs (Keeps any cities/town's South of Route 29), and Albany.
Gives up Plattsburgh, Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, Schroon Lake, and Lake George to Vermont.

Right. The Quebecois have done so well that probably a third of the people in northern NY and NE are descendents of refugees from Quebec or French-speaking New Brunswick.
