What's the big deal about a power outage?
Never hear of the '03 blackout that hit in 95+ degree days.
If the worst case scenario is that we'll be without power for a short time, it's not a big deal. At all.
That it's not the worst case scenario. Watch the news
And Its not gonna be a short time if a large number of people lose power
With Andrew we were without power like for a month
With Katrina 2 weeks(cat 1 when it hit Miami)
And it's not as romantic as some people claim it is. Sweating like a pig day after day it's no fun. And if you live in a building you might not have waTer either as electricity is needed for water pressure
And its not a big deal but people need to be prepared for the worst because this storms are unpredictable. Some have too much water, others are too large and move slowly. What is really not a big deal is getting some supplies and being prepared. It's better to be safe than sorry.

I can't believe you're excited about a tornado watch. My husband's family lost their entire family---house and contents, barn, outbuildings and animals---to a tornado, nothing left but lumber and roofing scattered over 160 acres. Take them seriously!

It was sarcasm, dear. As in, what next on top of everything else. Sorry about your hubby's loss.
