I can't believe all all the ridiculous threads and posts people have made in the last few days with outrageous predictions of total disaster, looting and general mayhem.
I can't believe our overreacting mayor is evacuating people from neighborhoods in Manhattan and is going to shut down the transit system for a storm that probably won't even produce winds in NYC any higher than in an average thunderstorm or a typical winter storm.
Why does anyone around here pay any attention to tropical storms/hurricanes before they at least get to Cape Hatteras so that there is a better idea of what the storm is and where it is really going ?
What a ridiculous waste of time and energy this whole exercise has been and will be for at least another 24 to 36 hours
As i type this, i am wearing a life jacket and a scuba mask. Nostradamus predicted hurricane irene in one of his book. This hurricane will mark the beginning. I saw a vision.

It's simply media hype and shows that way too many people still trust what h media says instead of putting in the effort to really look into the matter.
Go look t the NOAA forecasts and radar and then watch the media hype. Two completely different versions.

Could I get a percentage of that if I become High Priestess? I have student loans to pay off!
Don't be watching the news. They're blowing up a lowly Cat 1 hurricane into a furious, hyper storm that's gonna level the city. Talk about sensationalism.
Seriously, all NYC is gonna get is a little rain, a little wind and not much else. Everyone is SERIOUSLY overreacting.

There is no winning. If people get everyone out, it's overreacting. If they don't get people out in time, they are negligent and 'should have done something.'

There's no pleasing anyone.
Better safe than sorry, I say.
Anyone who is more than 20 years old knows that these types of storms almost always either fade, die or change course and go out to sea after they reach Cape Hatteras. There is always at least 24 hours after a storm passes Cape Hatteras before it gets up here. It's just plain stupid to get so absolutely crazed about something 5 days ahead of time when the chances are it will never happen the way some of the fear mongerers predict.
