Replace those with trailer parks, and it could be anywhere in the country on COPS.

Good pics though. Too bad he wasn't able to capture the smiles from cops and the good things that happen...but nobody wants to see that.

I don't watch "Cops" or any other crime shows. However, I can only imagine they highlight the worst of the worst in the trailer parks or wherever they film.

These photos really do give a new appreciation for what these men & women go through on a daily basis. Can you imagine facing an 8 or 16 hour day, knowing you have to deal with that crap???

I think you've been in SoBro too long if you think this is typical of "anywhere in the country" because it's definitely not!

If you saw COPS, you would know it is typical of anywhere in this country. Watch the news anywhere in this country..same people..same problems...the only difference is the housing projects. The reality is NYC, and even the Bronx, has a lower crime rate than many other cities of the same/similar size. So that should tell you what is happening in the rest of the country. I find it even scarier out there in many places...and if you disagree..it's probably because you have never spent any time outside of NYC, or restricted yourself to the suburban "oasis" that most people escape to.

THe photos are alright to some extent, It dramatizes what police in Mott Haven 40th Precient and psa7 go through. I had a simular experience with these guys when I was disqualified joining the force, cops sat down and chilled with me on the staircase. The photos were shot in Mott Haven in and around the mitchell, mott haven, and paterson projects, Im surprised the photographer did not include mill Brook AKA KillBrook which is worse then the other three. Plus all those Projects in Mott Haven are controlled by the AA gang called the Bloods. Those photos are real. Everyone has pitbulls or some vicious dog, some say they use the dog for protection because they cant own a gun. I know some of those staircases, the walls are all tagged up. I feel sorry for some of the people who live in those buildings. The only escape for most people especially for the AA youth in Mott Haven is either excel at basketball, rapping, or joining the military and hopefully go back down south where grandma and grand daddy comes from and buy a home. Sad thing about thuggery especially in Mott Haven and anywhere else is that thugs are like the hydra, one head can be chopped off but another head will grow and take its place. Cycle of Violence will presist. Im surprised the photographer did not get a chance of taking a picture of hipster walking down Alexander avenue!

I agree with sobroguy, so wait a minute you saying this only happens in the Bronx and not anywhere else. Im sure this happens through out all of Americas dangerous urban districts wether if its Ghetto black, Red Neck trailer trash white or Barrio hispanics. I visited a slumish area of Las Vegas last year and I saw police moving through prefabricated abandoned surburban stlye houses looking for suspects, it was surreal. A friend of mines wants to show me memphis Tennessee and show me a real hood is like where cops would never venture.

What perplexes me the most is the pic where the dude maybe has a little over an oz of trees, yet is carrying a hatchet and a gun?

Cool gritty pictures. Typical hood stuff that the cops gotta go through. And a lot of young people signing up for NYPD I heard actually want to go get assigned to a bad neighborhood first. Its more experience and training for the long run. Better equipped to handle situations since they happen more often in high crime neighborhoods. Nothing like hands-on training on the job.

I didn't say anything like that. What I said was "this is not 'typical' of anywhere in the country". This was in response to SoBroGuy's statement that this kind of crap happens everywhere when it doesn't. Sure, there are projects in other cities and crime is just as rampant, but it's not happening "everywhere" and it's certainly not "typical" of the entire country.

And I absolutely have a new appreciation for the NYPD after seeing the garbage they have to deal with day in and day out. I doubt anyone on these forums would have the gonads to face what the NYPD does everyday and basically walking around with a bullseye on your back.

So, because there is crime all over the country, that means you can't appreciate the crap the men & women of the NYPD have to deal with everyday in that cesspool????? You may not appreciate it, but I do.
