Are you entered in this StuyTown lottery? It closed last year, March 31, 2021. Updates documents tend to be more of the same ones that were asked for the first time. What's the current wait on a 2 bedroom apartment? There is no simple answer to that question, but it will likely be longer than you want it to be. Having a low log# tends to shorten the wait.

You can learn a lot by scrolling back through the many posts.

If you are not in the lottery, you can sign up to be notified when a new lottery in announced.

For reference, I am log 15xx and had originally been asked for paperwork last October, was asked to resubmit my paperwork at the beginning of July, was asked if I had any pets in mid-July, and was informed that my application was ready for final processing last week. It was confirmed for me today that I'm at the top of the list for an apartment once they become available again, there just aren't any available.

So the wait continues. It's crazy how differently the 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom lists are moving!

Thank you so much for this info...I am log number 16xx and was asked for documentation in early July, submitted and it has been crickets...this is helpful to know!

Calling over and over to reach someone, leaving numerous voicemails with both the general number and my specialist, copious emails, stopping by the lottery office, and finally today writing a long appeal and backing it up by resending all of the materials with the time stamp of when I originally got them in.

Just received this from my specialist:

"Hello Mark:

I've received your documentations. It was a system error from our end. You are not DQ'd. Please disregard that. I will be starting on your file this week, If I need anything else from you. I will contact you.
No further action is required at this time."

So yay! Back on track and I can put down the bag I was hyperventilating into. Thanks for the help and advice! This group is invaluable.
Markienyc,
That´s great news. This process really tests our emotions. Hopefully your specialist is finished with your file soon.

I called and spoke to the office today about the 1 bedroom list, and it was the same "we don't know and aren't able to tell you anything." My specialist, Ms Wentt, is apparently out of office this week, and the person I spoke to said "each specialist has their own list, etc.."

I am so at the end of my rope here. I updated my documents in early July, was told to check back in August, it's now August and I have absolutely no idea if/when they'll reach my 31xx log number for a 1 bedroom. My lease ends this month and I have a sublet for the month of September but after that i don't know what I will do. It's really hard to make an informed decision when you have absolutely no information.

Does anyone have ideas about who else we could contact to get an update on when or if more 1 bedrooms will become available? The specialists clearly aren't able to provide any helpful information, and I just wonder if there is someone out there who can.

I want this apartment so badly, whenever I think too much about the lottery I feel like crying because this process has been so drawn-out and anxiety inducing.

I called the other day and the lady I spoke to said that Ms. Pryce's headset died, so she would call me back. lol. She never did. It's a different excuse every time. Very strange. I'm 56xx, so I wouldn't expect to get a 1 bed apartment any time soon, but I'd just like to know that I'm on the waitlist.

I'm in the same situation as you, with a 31xx log number as well. When I spoke to Syed last week, he mentioned they've reached the early 2000's on the 1BR wait list but didn't have a timeline on when they might reach my log number. I sent my documents in March.

I know that may not be super helpful, but if anything know you're not alone! This process has been super stressful (especially for those looking for a 1BR). My lease is up in October so hoping something comes through by then.

Stay strong! I have a good feeling we'll hear something soon.

For those concerned about the "Student Letter" required for each student, know that they realize that schools are not in session. I asked if sending in a recent official Report Card from the DOE would be sufficient. Skyler indicated that as long as it was including 2022 that it would be sufficient.

So we are pretty certain that we have all our documents in now. Just waiting for Ms. Wentt to return and hopefully we will be on track.

As a side note: be patient with the Stuytown Lottery staff. They are working their asses off. This lottery was poorly implemented from the Administrative perspective and they are getting hit from all sides with demands. This is super stressful for everyone involved. And it shouldn't be like this. Just try to take deep breaths. The staff there knows how overwhelming and complex this process can be and they will do backflips for you if you treat them with respect.

Log 34xx 2 bedroom
I just called the office and Ms. Pryce is out of the office until Monday. Skylar told me my file might be with the leasing agent but, they have no idea when I am getting an offer.
I called the leasing office (from the ST website) and they transferred me to a lady (I didn't catch her name) and she said she has no idea also. She didn't even ask for my name or log number. I told her I am going on vacation next week and she said - "Enjoy your vacation. Have a pina colada and relax."
