This is indeed very frustrating. I hope we move in before having to resubmit all paperwork. What is worrisome is I gave a security deposit the day I went to see the apartment!! Hopefully we will get a call this week with an update.
Daily I've been checking in 3 places on the building department webpage
Jobs/Fillings link
Permits In-Process/Issued link
View Certificates of Occupancy link
I figured that when the permit for the CO is filed it has to show in one of these places. However I don't know how often the building department webpage is updated or even how accurate it is. Maybe someone with more experience will have a better idea. I wish I had more information that just this
This management company is really inept and it is impossible to reach anyone. I think they are overwhelmed and are just going thru to motions right now. I really feel bad for the individual that gave a deposit and haven't been able to move it yet. When I went to look and apartment options they was still alot of work that needed to be done before they are even close to having tenants move in.
I have seen other affordable housing building that get TCO (Temporary CO) and with that people have been able to move in. Maybe this is that they anticipate for the 15th? Who knows.
Also, I don't think that they are inept. What I do have a strong belief in is anything that goes through the city takes forever!!! Langsam is kind of like the middle man - doing what they city requires of them and the city holds up and slows things. But I do agree that if they knew more construction had to be done then why did they collect my deposit? That's a bit frustrating.
Yes, good point, the 15th is on Sunday and MLK on Monday, I agree, I don't blame Langsam, they are in the same waiting game as we are and are anxious to get tenants in the building. As far as collecting the deposits, they probably seemed certain that people would start moving in sooner. When I chose my apt last month, I was not asked for a deposit.
