I can't believe no one mentioned "Missing", (or could be "The Missing") filmed near Jemez Springs. Directed by Ron Howard and starring Tommy Lee Jones. The film crew, including Ron Howard, had lunch at the restaurant I managed in Los Alamos. Mr. Howard was incredibly gracious even though he did not eat his broccoli. I guess without Aunt Bea watching over his shoulder he could get away with that.
The movie wasn't that great but meeting Opie was unforgettable.
I just watched that one, and enjoyed it for the scenery and nonstop pace!!
I imagine meeting Ron Howard would be something else, LOL!!
New Mexico (1951) Directed by Irving Reis, with Raymond Burr as Private Anderson. A U.S. Cavalry officer engineers a peace treaty between President Lincoln and tribal Chief Acoma who is played by Ted de Corsia. Filmed in Albuquerque, Gallup and Santa Fe.
Have not seen it. Someone on the East coast asked me if we had it out here....

In the Valley of Elah and No Country For Old Men were both filmed primarily in NM and Texas and had many of the same cast members: Whatever Tommy Lee Jones is in I watch! Both were great flicks!
Most of the links on that site are broken, I don't think it has been maintained in
quite a while, but the inventory of older films is quite interesting.

I watch alot of movies, and am tuned into the westerns channel quite frequently, and did that search using google, and it was about the only list of western films I could find. Maybe someone can find another list? I know wiki has one, but it's links don't tell you where movies were made.
I like the old Paladin series 'have gun will travel', and some of the Gunsmoke series too.
I thought this thread would be something of interest to some living in the state.
That's a 10 year old list. Doesn't have Appaloosa on it.
I noticed that as well. Still, an interesting list. The first movie I thought of when I saw this thread was the 1994 version of Wyatt Earp.
