Finally, the fire is out except for the little smokers that will be appearing from time to time for at least a month. Today everybody that is still here will be demobilized. We will clean up the trucks and the fire station and then maybe be able to rest. Sure would be nice to receive several days of slow rain now. More than likely the rain will come in buckets and wash out the roads on the downhill side of the fire. This seems to be what always happens.

Thanks for all the prayers!!!

Timberon Fire Incident Command reports that the fire is now 100% contained and that the team has transitioned the fire back to Otero County Fire officials as of this morning. Otero County resources will continue to monitor the fire area and deal with any hot spots that may develop.

The fire burned 140 acres, destroyed three residences, five out buildings and 10 vehicles.

That is so good to hear. Everyone is safe. I feel for those who lost their homes and I will contribute to the fund for them. I just can't imagine what you guys in Timberon actually went through. It is something I hope I never have to experience, but if I do I've learned from you.

Go to Timberon.org and click on community notices.
There is a fire evacuation list that everyone needs to print out and have handy. I had it and it helped get me through and gave me guidelines.

Don't wait - Do it today.

Song,

I will do so. I won't be back to Ruidoso until late June, but I will make sure I bring it with me and leave it there. But we will be going to San Francisco (be sure to wear some flowers in your hair - Scott McKenzie) for our 25th wedding anniversary over Memorial Day weekend. It should be fun!!

I hope all is well!!! Hopefully someday I can meet all you wonderful people in Timberon.

chilegal: Thanks for the information. It was bad, but it could have been so much worse.

What impresses me most is the way that the community pulled together, and how many residents are proud to live there because of it. It sounds like a great place.

Brownwood should be fine. It was not part of the burned area.
