Default Deming Ranchettes Unit 36

Hi Slowhd
In 1970, my father purchased land in the Deming Ranchettes. My 88 year old mother is now the owner. She has tried for many years to sell the land thru the Deming classified section of their local newspaper. She received no responses.

I, as a very young lady, with my father, visited the land 37 years ago. It was very baren at that time.

Our land is Unit 36 as well and I wish I knew something to tell you about it. I am hoping by both of us posting, someone will be so kind as to inform us what we have here. Within Unit 36, our land is block 17, lots 1-4. I was surprised to see something from someone who had purchased the same unit number.

Please, if you find out anything, I would appreciate you remembering me. I live in Idaho. I go to Iowa to visit my son, outside of Cedar Rapids.

Default Deming Ranchettes, Unit 36

Is anyone familiar with Unit 36?

My father purchased four lots in block 17 in 1970. It has been 37 years since anyone in my family visited it. Does anyone know if it has been developed?

I would love to be able to contact someone in that area to better understand what we have there.

Anyone who is able to help me, would be most appreciative. My mother has been trying to sell this unseen land for many years now, and there has been no response to any listings of it for sale.

Judy,

You might want to try listing it on EBay. Just remember to have the starting bid the lowest you would be willing to take. There is an escrow company in Deming that can do the transfer for about $40 (don't know if that would be per lot or all four), but I have that info at home. You can get a list of neighbor owners from Luna County. Not sure how well everything would be selling right now with the economy.

Guess you have never been here during Jul and Aug. Yes it does rain and when it rains it pours.

It's great to see more input aboutSunshine Valley Ranchettes. I purchased 3 lots (1.5 acres) back in 1973. I was on a military relocation move from Florida to California and saw a sign. I saw the land once in 1975. I was in the area again in 1980 and nothing has changed. A lot of new county laws have been passed that affects the land in a negative way. The most inportant one is that you have to have at least 1.5 acres in order to put in a septic tank. The cost of getting a well in has gone from $1.00 a foot in 1974 to about $40.00 a foot currently. The google map is hard to read as the street names are really messed up and most are mis-labeled. Got my 2008 Tax Bill and the taxes almost doubled from last year. Seems there was a big increase in the Road Levy. Going to make another trip to California soon and will check it out. Currently living in Texas. I will post the coordinates once I find where I wrote it down. The land will always be there, can't lose. I didn't pay much for it and it's valued at $1800.00 now.
