just wondering how you are able to pay a mortgage when your daily travel expense for a family can be about $500 a month. thanks.
Well, I used to commute there for internships from Jersey and they were unpaid, but I am also single and childfree. My ex roommate commutes from Philly area to NYC everyday but she has a live in bf. IMO, people that are commuting there for work are probably making pretty good money to begin with or like my old roommate and me, are without kids & live in a small apartment.

The prices just keep going up, everytime you think you have your money budgeted, it changes on ya.
