For those of you trying to justify that 95mph is acceptable, let's take a moment to put this in perspective. You're driving down the highway with your wife and two young kids in the back seat. You're ok with other cars flying past you at 95mph? If your answer to that question is yes, I think a psychological evaluation may be in order.

I don't have two kids or a back seat, so the question doesn't come up.

My point exactly. The people trying to justify 95mph are those that only think of themselves. These are the same people that have "just a few drinks" and then get behind the wheel. It's unfortunate.

Naa, it's the people who object to it who only think of themselves. They figure because they're dividing their attention between the road, their wife, and the two kids in the back, that everyone should defer to their impaired condition.

Even the Autobahn has speed limits in construction zones and certain other circumstances: (from Wikipedia) Note that 60km/h = 37 mph

"Speed limits do apply at junctions and other danger points like sections under construction or in need of repair. Construction sites usually have a speed limit of 80 km/h but may be as low as 60 km/h or, in very rare cases, 40 km/h. Certain stretches have lower speed limits used in cases of wet lanes. Some areas have a speed limit of 120 km/h in order to reduce noise pollution during overnight hours (usually 10pm – 6am) or because of increased traffic during daytime (6am - 8pm)"
