I still like this show very much. Glad to hear it was acknowledged by the GGs. I think it gives a good flavor of Nashville. Obviously, much is ficitionalized for purposes of drama. People seem to pop into other people's homes without notice just to say something instead of making a phone call, email, text. So not 21st Century. But my favorite chuckle because of the lack reality concerned the Judy and Micky putting on a show in the barn or Partridge Family type of ploy in the last episode. Julie comes to church and is invited to sing. Without much time to practice, she whips out this fantastic vocal with the children's choir performing perfectly as her backup singers, complete with flawless coordinating choreography on everyone's part. It's all so easy. It probably took 30 people and 3 days to put that scene together. Still, it was enjoyable and I can't wait for the new episodes to start.

I feel like they should show some of the grittier parts of the city just to show that it is a city. So far we look like a countrified disneyland. Maybe an episode about her mom buying drugs on dickerson pike or something.

A lot of the glaring mistakes we see in Nashville happen in every show, we just don't notice them as much because they're not in our city. CSI is the most popular show in existence, and it is probably the furthest from the truth of any major drama. On major television, and with a few exceptions like ER and Law and Order, the grit and underbellies of cities never make it to the television screens. HBO has done a good job showing the less desirable parts of cities in shows like the Sopranos and The Wire, but they have a lot more freedom than the networks to show certain things.

Good point. I watched a lot of CSI:Miami way back when, and when I went to visit Miami on vacation I was like WTH, this place doesn't look like the tv show shots. Then I visited Miami Beach and was like OH, I get it now.

But at least with this show, it DOES give a valid feel for what downtown Nashville is like. CSI:Miami and downtown Miami IRL- two totally different things.
