The Fault in Our Stars. It is not the sort of movie I would pick, but it was on free HBO yesterday. Sad, but very good. The actors were fabulous.

Today, we are watching Blazing Saddles. We are laughing our heads off. Mostly because it is SO appallingly politically incorrect that we realize how we long for the days when people could say what they feel like saying, N****'.

I have an affinity for Mel Brooks. The guy is an absolute comedic genius.

It's time to pull out my copy (and absolute favorite Mel movie) of High Anxiety.

The Lobster (2015), Yorgos Lanthimos ★★★★★

After watching three of Yorgos Lanthimos' films (Dogtooth (2009), Alps (2011), and The Lobster), I know something about the world that I'm stepping into. Like a Wes Anderson film. Or Roy Andersson. Since his success, he's been able to attract an all star cast; Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, Lea Seydoux (Mysteries of Lisbon, Blue Is the Warmest Colour, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and was also in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and Spectre). And Ariane Labed returns (starred in Alps). A tough film so find. I found it streaming on Amazon.co.uk, but you need a UK credit card, but luckily they have the PAL dvd for sale. Since it first showed in the U.S. in 2016, it takes over the #1 spot.

"Manhattan Murder Mystery" (1993)

My first dip into the world of Woody Allen. Decent film I guess: I like Allen's dry & subtle humour, with able support from Keaton & Alda.
