It's SUPERCHICK Wedsnesday and this was one of four in a romance set, so it is another flick I went into knowing nothing about. Ben Stiller is hardly my favorite actor (and it shows how much I don't know Drew Barrymore for I didn't even realize it was her) and movies about the so&so from hell aren't flicks that thrill me. Still, this one held my attention for its 89 minutes even if certain elements were predictable. It has the further advantage in that I wasn't seeing any of the actors but rather, the parts they were playing. Say an 8.3.
I watched Runaway Jury (2003) for the 3rd time. I have the DVD. The movie has an interesting plot with good suspense and there are excellent actors in it (John Cusack, Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman and Rachel Weisz).
Appalachian Trail (2009), library's Hoopla. National Geographic doc.
To put it simply, the more snakes, the fewer rodents. The fewer rodents, the less Lyme disease.
.
But don’t non-venomous snakes achieve the same quota as venomous?
I am all in favor of more black racers, rat snakes, king snakes and fewer rattlesnakes of every kind and cottonmouths and copperheads...

I enjoy that too—especially that it is set in New Orleans and can see places we have actually visited
One of the first times I remember Rachel Weiss who I enjoy watching in anything...
It's fun! It is like the Wizard of Oz at the front and the end but the main theme is a play on Shakespeare's As you like it!
As ridiculous as it is, one can forget where they are, so it can be ridiculous. It is decently well done. The IMDB critics raked it over the coals but to enjoy it, one needs to realize what they are looking at and be waiting for the next step to see how it is related to the theme it is based on. Say at 7.3.
The film does cover a lot of ground but in the end it boils down to mainly referencing the Armenian Genocide which took place between 1914 and 1918. It was a very touching film and I think I have acquired more history from film than I ever have in a classroom anywhere.
Richard Roeper of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film 3 out of 4 stars, saying: "Yes, The Promise veers into corny territory, and yes, it's derivative of better war romances — but it's a solid and sobering reminder of the atrocities of war, bolstered by strong performances from Isaac and Bale, two of the best actors of their generation"
The Promise is a 2016 American historical drama film directed by Terry George and starring Oscar Isaac, Charlotte Le Bon and Christian Bale, set in the final years of the Ottoman Empire.
