Afterwards
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0940580/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

I think I picked up this flick at the Blockbuster sell out when things were cheap and just grabbed things based on its cover. Covers can be deceiving! It looks like a spy flick......it isn't!

Fortunately, I picked it off the shelf, now in the present, for SUPERCHICK night and it classifies for that (love, motherhood, life, "birth"). The photography is excellent, the pace moves right along, and it keeps one hooked, even if it might be in a morbid way like Six Feet Under openings. In that regard, it has a Hitchcock style of directing. One knows who it is to come to but is left with the anticipation of when and how.......and how is not always as obvious as it might be.

This is another movie where I have gone through it not knowing anything about what it is suppose to be about. It is quite an interesting experience seeing a flick that way.

It's about an 8.2, part of that being for its rewatchability. If one watches it a second time, then there is relishing more of the relationships.

"French Connection II"
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073018/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

I am not quite sure what I watched last night. The Ugly American? A director's attempt to recapture "He Walked By Night"? A cop going off the deep end to become just like the crooks but he is still depicted as the the hero? It may have been a flick that could have had the audience cheering, "All right! That's the way to do it!" but having read the history of the Happyland Fire, I saw a despicable man who was suppose to be the good guy who by the luck of movie magic didn't become a heartless mass murderer.

Still, the heading was a complete surprise but not a welcomed one.

Finally, in the worlds of movie magic,
Spoiler

....for the time it took to hook Popeye on heroin and then to get him off it, that merchant ship sure occupied a commercial dry dock for a heck of a long time.
It was a nice two hours of beautiful France, backgrounds and peoples. Say about a 5.0.

Goodfellas was a groundbraking mobster movie, but the style and structure have been copied by so many that it might be let down for a modern audience.

I have a soft spot for certain antiheroes, e.g. Henry Hill, Michael Corleone og Walter White (Breaking Bad). I do not want them in my real life, but they are entertaining in a fictional sense.

Montage (Korean movie) 10/10. It was free with Amazon Prime. What a freaking movie. The acting~especially the mother.....amazing. Hollywood can learn a thing or two from Korean movies. A movie about a mother who is seeking justice for her child who was kidnapped and killed....the catch, time is running out. There's only 5 days left before he can no longer be persecuted for his crime because of statue of limitation. What an ending!

Diary Of A Mad Housewife (1970)

Starring Carrie Snodgress & Frank Langella

This was a really good movie, and I love this particular era of fashion & decor. New York City in the 70s, just classic.

"Oh, Daddy! He followed me home! Can I keep him? CANICANICANI?"

Not quite that theme, but it can be found in this flick.

It's got it all with fine bodies, eternal youth, sex, seduction, Vampirelles. About the only downer for me in the flick is the hero forsaking his job and being medically grounded at home for over a month, I am feeling that fear (even though I am covered) myself in a lot of the flicks I watch. However, unlike the hero, my fridge is stocked to the gills!

The photography is sort of like the TV series "Push, Nevada" (or the modern Bedazzled) with warp speed close ups and there is a slight feel of Pulp Fiction with the sound track.

It was fun!.....bloody, but fun! Say a 8.6......even if little old ladies did get mutilated late last night.
