Life is Beautiful with Roberto Begnini. Outstanding. The first half is comedic and I began to wonder why it was listed as a comedy/drama. Then the second half started. There was the drama in spades. The father (Begnini) protects his little boy from the horrors of a Nazi concentration camp by engrossing the boy in an imaginary game.

Even though it won a ton of awards, I was leery as so much has been done about the concentration camps. This one is in a league of its own.

Wow, what an interesting SUPERCHICK Wednesday! A SUPERCHICK flick can be as easy as a female lead, so I pull "The Betrayed" with Melissa George listed off the shelf and pop it into the machine.

The credits roll with Debra Winger and Tom Berenger and I start wondering who this Melissa George is, where is she in this flick, did Debra have another stage name.

As it turns out, I go through the entire 2 hour movie, not watchimg "The Betrayed" BUT

"Betrayed"
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094731/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Both made by MGM but apparently in the video store, LONG AGO, that this 2nd hand DVD eventually came to me from, the DVD of similar name was put in the wrong case!

It is still one heck of a SUPERCHICK movie, through and through. For that reason alone, I watched it, thru and thru, never stopping it, checking the case, checking IMDB, to try figure out what was going on between the case and DVD. It didn't even occur to me to check at that point.

Further, I like going into a flick that I know nothing about, where everything that happens is a surprise, I have no expectation of any of the characters. It's like when I checked out "From Dusk to Dawn", thinking I was getting just an ultra violent crime movie.

Back to "The Betrayed". An excellent movie though a little hard to watch, given our current political times. Just by chance, it is two movies from the 80s, on back to back nights.....and LAWs being used.

Did watch the supplied trailer afterwards, so if you watch that first, if you know what the movie is about, it's a 7.2. If you don't know what the flick is about, if you can approach learning the characters from ground zero, it's an 8.4.

I know I watched this flick before, probably before Nov 2018, but it was during my drinking days, so I was probably passed out during most of it...then.

Wide awake this time around and it's a good getaway flick that left me with a good feeling. In such flicks, there is the tendency to try to predict who is the good and who is the bad but I find that I often figure that out just because of understanding the way movies work. So, as with this one, I turned all that off, didn't try to figure it out, and just enjoyed it.

Say an 8.9....and it didn't need any nudity to get there.
