Sounds pretty creepy! Released 1976. Synopsis: A hooded murderer stalks the streets of Texarkana, Arkansas, terrifying the small town's populace. Based on actual events which occured during a three-month period of 1946.
Starring: Ben Johnson, Andrew Prine, Dawn Wells, Charles B. Pierce (info from rottentomatoes.com)
It is really creepy!!! No one has ever heard of this film and I swear it scared the crude out of me! I was little when I watched it too. I think I was like 5 when my oldest brother made me watch it! I remember crying and not being able to sleep for the longest time after this movie mainly because it was a true story and they never caught the guy!!! It still terrfies me and I have always hated my brother for this!
Another vote for Requiem for a Dream. There are many others I can mention here, but I'd rank Requiem for a Dream the most disturbing of all. By the way, the fact Ellen Bursytn did not win an Oscar for her performance is almost as disturbing.
Some others:
Blood Sucking Freaks (the actual title look it up)
Irreversible
Trade
Bastard Out of Carolina
I can't believe all the lame horror movies people are posting.... they cannot compare to real life. When I think of disturbing I think of movies that make my heart sink into my stomach and have me thinking about it months later.
Deliverance is the most disturbing movie I saw and back in 1972 , you didn't hear of this at all....if you've seen this show you know what I am speaking of....
I was somewhat troubled by Letters from Iwo Jima. I dont' care if you call me biased or narrow minded or whatever.....the thought of an American made movie about WW2 sympathizing with the Japanese soldiers fighting against the United States and the fact that we are supposed to sympathize with the Japanese characters really make me maybe not disturbed, but certainly uncomfortable.
I was also bugged by how negatively the CIA was portrayed in the Bourne movies. But especially Letters from Iwo Jima. I prefer a war movie like We Were Soldiers or Saving Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down or PEARL HARBOR where the Americans are the good guys. Frankly with this precedent, who knows maybe in a few years we will have a film that sympathizes with a Muslim terrorist or even a story with some young German kids drafted into the NAzi army.
One movie that really made me feel creepy was a 1966 movie called Picture Mommy Dead. I first saw it when I was about 7 but even at that young age I somehow knew by what I saw at the end(father and daughter walking hand in hand) what was being implied.
