On Amazon Prime Sayen about a young Machupe woman who defends her grandmother and their land from land development company who pillages land for natural resources and indigenous people on it—lot of action—she becomes the hunted and then the hunter
First of a 2 part series but didn’t realize until closer to end of movie—
Would have benefitted from being more complex—plays more comic-strip because of stereotypical characters but some good action sequences—one of the bad guys is the Aztec/Mayan warrior from Apocalypto who leads the slave catchers and whose son is killed by hero…
We rewatched "Ricky Gervais: Out of England: The Stand-Up Special" for the umpteenth time last night. (Netflix only has it on DVD.) I think my stomach muscles are still sore from laughing. The Humpty Dumpty part kills me.
Sort of a cross of Poltergeist (have seen) with The Blair Witch Project (not seen) and the stunts of The Haunting (have seen). The real action starts in the last 30 minutes of the flick and for what the movie has, it is often predictable. A 5.6.
Sort of a fantasy based glorified "What a Girl Wants". It starts off slow but after about 30 minutes, it's pretty decent with wonderful photography and interesting twists, here and there, musketeers wise. First of all, the musketeers are not one's friend in this flick, there is a similar demise like that of Athos from the 73 flick, and Gee-ee!, that tree looked rather familiar from the in the follow on 70s flick where the Cardinal was stringing people up. As said, once the flick gets going, it is decently enjoyable. A 7.1.
Pretty damn good spy movie.....of course, it helps when you have something of a personal attachment to draw one in. That's the risk with security work, the paranoia, of whether or not your boss is lying to you (of course for me, it was just a question of them doing something that if discovered, would cost them their pension). But wrapped in, I was into the movie all the way......damn political appointees! A 10.0......but only on the first time around.
Marlowe (2022). It was boring and Neeson is way too old to play Marlowe (a guy in his 30s-40s in Chandler's novels). Still, I think it was slightly better than expected. 6/10.
Decent, SLOW, wonderfully shot pioneering flick but of Men of Steel not like the young pioneers. Still, it does show how one's dreams can pale in face of the harsh reality of others. It helps if one is into such living (made my week's cornbread, did a sink of dishes while I watched). Very light on the gun play.....but a horrific death scene or two. Nudity is minor and can be missed if one blinks at the wrong moment. A 7.6.
Pretty darn good in that it follows nicely along for the viewer....of course as that it really isn't a murder mystery helps. An 8.2.
