I saw it tonight. Not going to be surprised by bad reviews. I thought it was decent, but does lack the rewatchable of previous movies. It feels like they never had a solid road map of where they wanted the trilogy to go.
Not going to talk about any of the major things yet, but a couple of minor things:
Spoiler
It lacked an epic climatic lightsaber fight. Always been one of my favorite parts of Star Wars.
The main one was in the middle of the movie and wasn't that good.
They need to stop with planet destroying weapons already.
I just saw it and agree with everything you said, including the spoiler. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, nowhere near the horrid last Jedi. However, it wasn’t close to the original trilogy.
Just about everything JJ Abrams has done sucks. Just look him up on IMDB, its nothing memorable.
Ill rent this crap when it comes out, but after all the revamped star wars movies from Disney, none are really good. The trilogy is basically the original 3 with a chic.

Funny, I was thinking of that while watching this one. Parts reminded me of Return of the Jedi. This was basically a stealth reboot.
Side rant on why I think I’m done with theaters. It used to be that the movie start time comes, they show some trailers and 15 min later the movie starts. Now movie time comes and there’s commercials. Then trailers. More commercials, more trailers. Our 8 AM movie started at 8:30. 30 min of commercials and trailers.
THE MANDALORIAN is okay. I'm not an enamored with it as so many people seem to be. It's okay. Not great. It's not the STAR WARS I was hoping for. I was hoping for something more like ROGUE ONE in tone. But THE MANDALORIAN is more of a live-action cartoon.
Say it with me now: The Mandalorian should have been a feature film along the lines of Rogue One, sans the "Baby Yoda" dressing.
It didn't need to be a callback to a legacy character. The show IS a legacy character. That the rescued "child" is not a six-legged, eight-brained, four-tusked scaled, winged and scaled amoeba-like thing that couldn't draw the same "oohs" and "ahhs" tells you more about the audience than Favreau and company.
It was bad. Easily the worst Star Wars movie for me and unlike The Last Jedi, I have no desire in swing it again anytime soon.
While many point to the previous film for derailing this trilogy (there's some truth to that), this movie has so many cringeworthy parts that it created on its own.
Myth No. 4
The franchise's fans are usually young white men.
Myth No. 5
A team of young rebels did all the effects for 'Star Wars.'
All of these myths are put to rest in the article.

I actually think JJ is the new Shyamalan.
He was great with Lost until the last couple of seasons. However he's lost the plot (sometimes literally) since then.
