If done correctly - why not? My argument has always been Marvel took an largely unknown character such as Iron Man, got a good origin story, the right actor, and the right substance - $4Billion in sales later it's a success.
Movies like IRON MAN and THE DARK KNIGHT prove that the best thing to do is hire a talented filmmaker and let him or her be creative.
Movies like IRON MAN 2, BATMAN RETURNS, and SPIDER-MAN 3 show what happens when the IP owner starts dictating to the director what has to be in the movie.

So who would you hire to play the following characters?
The Flash
Wonder Woman
Martian Manhunter
Aquaman
Cyborg
Green Arrow & Black Canary
Doctor Fate
Captain Marvel
Black Lightning
Lobo
Hawkman & Hawkgirl
Zatanna
Booster Gold
John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner & Hal Jordon
This troll post I approve of only because you like Lemmy and Motorhead.
Ha! I honestly wasn't trolling. Aside from the occasional Batman comic, I was never into DC at all. What little I know of it, I know from the Timm/Dini cartoons.
Lemmy should be in every movie ever made from now on, as far as I'm concerned.
Marvel is too far ahead.........Warner Bro. can't get their act together!! Even Man of Steel did nothing to set up that "shared universe" thing they keep hinting at.....

Hmm, I can see spider-man 3, but I actually liked all the ones you listed.

Well that's something of a brain-teaser...I will say this the current actor who plays Green Arrow in the tv show "Arrow" I think is pretty good and believable.
Somehow I think ethan hawke would be good for one of the male characters above.

I liked IRON MAN 2. It was good. But the script was GREAT. Marvel made Favreau cut out all the character-development scenes in favor of more stunts and toy-worthy scenes.
Spidey 3 had good bits, mostly dealing with Sandman, which were obviously the bits Raimi was interested in. But Marvel forced him to put in Venom and the symbiote, and it was painfully evident there just wasn't any love there.
BATMAN RETURNS was a horror.
