I'm actually disappointed as it only got to -29 this morning (had -30 a week or so ago), right now it's a balmy -7 but don't know what the wind is as that part of the weather station isn't registering anymore, the little cup thingies are spinning around pretty fast.

Heads up for anyone in northwestern or west central Minnesota (west of the trees)...

blizzard likely to hit Thursday as an arctic front drops south and winds gust to 50 mph in the Red River valley and adjacent areas down into parts of the Minnesota River valley. Impacted areas include Thief River Falls-Detroit Lakes-Fergus Falls- then southward into the Minnesota river valley north of Redwood Falls. Not a lot of new snow but winds combined with fallling light snow and snow on the ground will cause very poor visibilities. Blizzard will end Thursday overnight.

You might have heard about Sunday already... but another very nasty blizzard is very likely for the usual wind areas of western into southern Minnesota where wind gusts to 60 mph may occur, esp Sunday midday-afternoon-evening. Blizzard watches issued for this region from Alexandria to Wilmar to Mankato to Albert Lea and west. This is the where the worst of the whiteout conditions will be. Travel in this part of the state will be very difficult if not impossible due to zero vsby Sunday afternoon.
