Just because a death happens in water, doesn't mean its a drowning. The BF of a schoolmate of mine died in Walden Pond. He didn't drown.
I agree. Though you could have a heart issue that wouldn't be lethal per se but can cause you to drown.

I just had my first swims of the summer, in two different lakes in Vermont. The number of drownings recently was definitely in my mind! But I knew I was sober, didn't swim far out from the shore, there wasn't anything hazardous under the surface--at least I avoided some of the mistakes people make. And here I am back on the computer.

That is a notoriously weedy, murky, mud pit and this has happened many times here.

Pretty wild.

As someone who started lifeguarding at 16 making $10.27/hr and thinking that was a boat load of money, it's incredible seeing that DCR is raising lifeguard wages to $20-21/hr with a $500 bonus at the end of the summer. Being able to earn around $10k for just under 3 months of work is a pretty awesome for a high school (and even college) student. Hanging by the beach/lake/pond/pool is generally a hell of a lot nicer than handing out coffees at Dunkin or fries at McDonald's.
