In the very long run - I would not be surprised if covid cuts many, many lives short due to hear/lung/kidney damage or diabetes amongst the "survivors". And what happens if you caught covid, didn't recover completely, and catch the flu 2 years later? Are you going to be more likely to die? Probably so.
In one study of covid survivors, with most not hospitalized and with an average age in the 40's, 78% of them showed heart damage on MRI...https://www.diagnosticimaging.com/vi...id-19-patients
A long time ago a Bradley saw coworker died we used to go out on Sunday mornings for coffee a small group of us. He lost so much weight in his face and his nose started dripping and we are saying to each other that if it was just one bad cold he would die and I think that is what happened.

That also reminds me of a story where a guy growing up in 1950s met his great-uncle was the trenches in World War I and the gas damaged his lungs making it hard for him to climb steps even 35 years later.

My wife is teaching in front of a classroom full of kids right now. The social-distancing/office-closure rules that were in place before summer aren't fully in place right now. We will see how this goes.

Yes I’ve noticed people posting pics of their kids first day of school today who attend private catholic schools. They’re going back full time in person.

Well, if you want to be cynical, you could say Big Pharma is only after the Trump bux. And when the money finally runs out they will be like "welp, we need more time on this, give us another 6 months"

The initial testing results from some of the local universities are pretty good

Tufts - 4 positives out of 10,000 tested
BC - 10 positives out of 15,000 tested
NE - 7 positives out of 17,000 tested
BU - 39 positives out of 28,000 tested

There are dashboards on their websites if you want more info.

That is very encouraging... hope the schools can keep the cases down in the single and double digits like that.

Brandeis' dashboard: https://www.brandeis.edu/fall-2020/dashboard.html

5 positives out of 10,700 tests. And based on 0 people currently in quarantine, it seems like those people were all staff/faculty who likely contracted covid off-campus.
