I think that is a key point. The east coast was hit first, and the hardest, and at a time when nobody had any idea how serious this was, so our awareness and response is heightened.

I'm not agreeing with how other parts of the country are acting, but I can kind of understand it.

Not asthma so much. Heart disease. Diabetes.

These people are treating the pandemic like the throngs of picnickers sitting on the hillsides and watching 1st Manassas (aka the 1st Battle of Bull Run) from afar. Little would they know that the conflict did not last a few more weeks but a few more years and took many more lives.

Speaking for myself, if we could be ensured 100% compliance with these practices, I would be willing to open up most places of business tomorrow. We know this is not the reality, and hence so many business owners have to suffer unfortunately.
I agree, but instead we have a bunch of numbskulls running around thinking that they are showing how tough or cool or brave they are.

Over the weekend, all of my high school friends were posting photos of parties at the lake, family reunions, vacations to the beach... not a mask to be seen. Most people there don't know anyone who has been impacted, where I feel like most of us here at least have one coworker who has lost a parent or grandparent.

Even though georgia has been opened up their numbers have been going down. I heard texas numbers are increasing. there was another state down south i forget where their numbers are going down that opened up. some of these states that opened up have numbers going down but texas and alabama are going up. california has hardly any cases or deaths. they where not affected hardly at all but have strict rules because of the american psycho governor. the california governor looks exactly like the actor in the movie american pscyho.

I don't know anybody directly who's even been tested at this point.

I am more surprised by some of the people who didn’t go anywhere since March 10th or so. My brother in law and his family didn’t leave the house at all. Not once. I think they went for drives a few times but they didn’t even go anywhere else to walk. They live in an area where hardy anyone had it and none of them have any other issues. It seems extreme. Obviously I don’t think having parties or not wearing a mask in the grocery store is the way to go but there has to be a happy medium.

One thing to be aware of in the case count is that the testing is far more than any point in the last couple months now. The percent positives are down across the board. If total cumulative cases are flat or even slightly up, consider just how many more tests have been done, and then consider that in many states, antibodies are included in these positive case counts.

From Ohio, we began opening May 1st I think, in stages. Today represents basically the last real stage with churches and gyms now open. Cases and deaths are both flat since then, and I personally expect the slight downward trends to accelerate going into June.
