Merry Christmas to all of the regular readers & posters on here. For all our squabbling, I'd like to think we all yearn for the same thing...a return to normalcy...both for our families' health, and for the general economic well-being of Massachusetts.

You'll laugh but I am now predicting that the shutdown will actually start on 1/4... if only because the Patriots have their home finale on 1/3 against the Jets. Would also give people a couple extra days to get any gift returns or exchanges to a store that might be closed for some time.

Shutting down on 1/3 would be a mercy killing for a Jets-Patriots game.

I can’t fathom shutting down low transmission rate activities like retail in a capacity-restricted store with everyone wearing masks. I’d rather see fines and stiff enforcement for improper mask wearing. No, you don’t remove your mask to talk on your phone. After 8 months of it, an exposed nose? GMAFB. $1,000 fine.

I see a shutdown coming after Jan 1st as well. Unfortunately. What shuts down? Not sure, but the low hanging fruit as someone called it, for dine in restaurants, and casinos will be closed.

Retail/Malls - dunno for sure. BUt the numbers wont be going down, and Baker will have to do something because of pressure.

You people and your shutdowns. Just stay home if you are not comfortable being out in public. Let the rest of us make our own choices.

I see something with bigger shut down as well. We're supposed to vaccinate about 10 million people by the end of the year now it looks like it's just 1 million. Fouchi has said initially that we'd only need 70 to 75% for her immunity now that's been inching up to 80 and potentially 90%

Supposedly Biden wants to reopen schools in a hundred days. That would bring it to probably April. I think I do larger districts that have more funding can probably do this but love your smaller ones don't. I read the central register on a regular basis and I can tell you that last summer only Yarmouth was the only school that put out a bid for studies of the HV AC systems. You can't tell me you're going to have kids running around a gym, singing in an auditorium etc

The funding for cares act ends on the 30th. If Trump doesn't sign this bill we're going to lose the ability to do quite a bit of testing and virus assistance. I don't know what's in his mind but whatever it's doing it's not working.
