That's good.

I was in a restaurant towards the southern area of CT today and no one was wearing a mask. Of course most of them were probably there to attend a nearby show and if they don't think they need a mask for that, then they wouldn't think a mask would be needed inside a small Victorian opera house either. Or, since most of them were older probably they've had the recent jab and are feeling safe for a while.

However when I got to the CT shore, I saw people with masks, even inside the ice cream shop.

(I went in so many places today, I'll be next one to get covid.)

The issue is, how serious? If it's asymptomatic chances are you'll have Covid and never test for it. It's a "case" and it will show up in wastewater if they test for that where you are. But aren't we at the point where the concern should be at the level of that for a common cold or adolescent acme? I'm not belittling some who may get seriously sick or die but that's so rare that society just cannot be run for the very rare case.

I just think many people have stopped worrying about it. Around here in Boston I see some masks on the subway and in the supermarket (definitely fewer than 20% of people, probably closer to 5-10%), but restaurants, bars, theaters, etc. are essentially back to pre-covid normal. With the exception of grocery stores where it seems like the number of staff wearing masks is probably around 20%, I don't even see a lot of masks on food service or retail workers anymore.

In my circles, it's largely been accepted as an inevitability. My fiancee, each of my siblings, my mother, and many of my friends have had it twice. Each have said the second time was little more than a mild annoyance. It's still disproportionately affecting the old and immunocompromised, but at least now there's vaccine and booster availability, PPE availability, and testing to help mitigate risks. As unworried as I am about myself (I've never had it), we still really limit activity and test multiple times during the week leading up to a visit with my fiancee's 88 year old grandmother.

But you are showing concern and compassion. Much the way Darrell Brooks showed his love for the Waukesha community by wearing a mask at his trial.

Bumping this thread for the first time in almost a month, and not for a good reason. Anyone checking the MWRA wastewater trend?

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2022/11/...-winter-surge/

The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard projected last Thursday that the virus, an offshoot of the Omicron family dubbed BQ.1.1, accounted for 39 percent of COVID-19 cases in the state.

I keep an eye on it, but looks like it's still holding kind of steady?
